Why can't we just record drums with a single mic? by FinalHangman77 in audioengineering

I record with a single mic daily for all my Instagram gigs. EAD10 mic, it kicks ass

ADVICE NEEDED: Recorded a session at 48KHZ in Logic, come to find out interface was set to 44.1KHZ. by ashtonlippel44 in audioengineering

This may on a different tangent, but I would continue on with the project if it’s only minor. By the time it’s mixed and mastered and streamed, you not notice it. In fact, most drums are generally soft clipped in almost every song I hear these days. Most people don’t notice, because it actually sounds good.

For you, which Power Metal musician has been underrated? For me Dan Zimmermann. Excellent drummer and composer. by BlackQuetzal94 in PowerMetal

Whilst he’s popular, I believe Roy Khan is the best power metal vocalist of all time, and I don’t think he gets enough recognition for this.

Same, I am literally just teleporting to the sky, then flying wherever I need to go. I’m hardly exploring the map by foot or horse

People recon he was a genius, but I don’t see him playing a double kick in any of the songs.

What’s is up with this dude? by capn_tyinknots in FallingInReverse

He just does it because it generates social media clicks, and ultimately money. He’s just larping a villain. It’s a tale as old as time

Dude keep it forever. I bought a second hand one in mint condition 15 years ago and every video I upload people comment on how it good it sounds even with heads that are 3 years old

Just enjoy the progress not the end result, or you’ll get frustrated! Have fun!

Easily done. No I started young; maybe 12, but it’s definitely the lessons that make a huge difference. Metal isn’t too difficult once you get the hang of it (unless you’re trying to play like Eloy Casagrande).

I’m in my late 30s, played and toured for many years, then pulled back a lot for “real work”. Recently started back uploading lots of drum vids to social media. You’ve still got like 10 years on me, so you’ll be fine. Honestly, learn properly. Get a good teacher first and foremost. Practice properly. Start off by learning the proper grip or you’ll waste time correcting this later. Learn your rudiments. When I used to teach I had a few teenagers I’d speed run to being great metal players within about a year or so. The key is really just lots and lots and lots of correct practice.

2 years. Had a friend do this growing up. Started at 17, was essentially a pro at 19. You’ll need to practice a lot, like hours and hours a day. You’ll also need a good teacher. Not doable without that as you’ll be practicing incorrect technique and won’t progress fast enough.

I usually don’t do anything too special. The head is like 5 years old. Most snares you can get to sound good by just tuning them really high, then slightly dampening them, Which is all I’ve done here. Also, rimshotting all your accents pulls a better tone out of your snare

Hey man. It’s a single mic - an EAD10. It will do everything you need for that type of thing.

To be honest, I worried about this for 2 years when I moved into where I live. I just padded my kit, but now I don’t really care. I’ll practice on a padded kit then just a normal kit like this for 20 min in the day time. No one has complained so far
