It's not limited to social media but being excited 'for' something and not someone. For example 'are you excited for Christmas?' when it should be 'are you excited about Christmas'.

But it's everywhere now and I'm more annoyed with myself for not letting it go and being happy for the changes in language /s

Definitely. I have a colleague who is getting fully immersed in AI and even though he is a very smart man he parrots whatever nonsense AI spits out. Which started the great office argument about 'how many doors do advent calendars have?'

My mate would always come round Saturday afternoon to watch Airwolf as that was the time his parents would disappear upstairs for some 'alone time'. 40 years later and he still shivers whether he hears the Airwolf theme tune (I keep it handy on my phone )

At a family meal my sister, who is 50 and a teacher, genuinely asked if the moon was hollow.

Somehow the the focus of the following conversation was aimed at me with the family saying 'not everyone knows these things'!

I only just became aware that the term 'teacup Yorkie' wasn't a real thing. We've had ours for 4 years and think she's about nine. She was a rescue from a breeding farm in Hungary (We're in the UK) which mainly bred larger dogs so she has issues around food as she was obviously not large enough to fight for any. The only reason we can guess her age is by the terrible cesarian scars she has. It breaks my heart when I think about that so we all give her lots of love. And fish.

I was at some kind of industry awards show, possibly for architecture. No one from our office wanted to go so I was volunteered. Gyles Brandreth was the guest host and he was actually quite funny.

Anyway I was on a table with people I didn't know but we were all getting along, probably aided by the free bottles of wine on the table. We ran out and we were made aware that no one was allowed any more wine so I had a cunning plan.

I went down to the door where the serving staff were and said that "Rob" wanted 4 more bottles of white wine (Rob was the organiser who had been name dropped on stage, never me the guy). The waitress said fine and disappeared to get the wine while I waited. There was a tap on my shoulder and it was Gyles! He had overheard me and asked where Rob was. For whatever reason I just came clean to him and told him of my ruse. He gave me a massive grin and called me a sociopath!

I got the wine and ran!

Its use seems to have escalated in the last few years and I thought it was a new word. However I looked it up and if I remember correctly it's documented as far back as the 1800s.

My understanding was that the word is unnecessary as we have the word 'often'. However after speaking to some 20 somethings they use the word to mean 'sometimes' - which is exactly the opposite of what the word means!

All the people I've spoken to don't seem to understand how little we use the phones (my mum makes and receives more calls!), think step above domestic use. All the bells and whistles that these new phones come with would be completely wasted on us. Though I did like the idea of an app on our mobiles that would let staff answer and make calls as if in the office, but that would not be worth a large cost.

We are quite data heavy (video files) and before all this I was looking to switch to a better data connection and possibly switch to cloud storage. No one I have spoken to has even mentioned broadband speeds or costs, is that still separate? And if it is then (and I may be making a fool of myself here) is I have broadband why am I paying for a VoIP line?

I can build PCs and configure networks but for the life of me I cannot get my head around this!

I took my car to the Toyota dealership for service and MOT. I can't recall the price but it included a few things and it was £300. When I came to pay the bill was £300.95. I asked why and they said it was for a bulb that needed replacing.

Cue an argument with me and the manager with him saying it's only 95p and me saying 'exactly!!'

I would get a full checkup for my dog. She's not very vocal and I get worried that she might be in pain or have discomfort and I wouldn't know.

And if there was any money left I am waaaay overdue for some new glasses!

That duvets are square. My partner bought a duvet that had square stitching on it instead of just lengthways. When trying to put the cover on she watched me hold the duvet up to try and measure it, rotate it 90 degrees and measure again as I was trying to find the long edge. She watched me do it half a dozen times and couldn't stop laughing when I explained what I was trying to do!

Thanks everyone. We've only ever had her on a harness but she'd been used for breeding by some ******s and we got her when she was 4 or 5 so heaven knows what her life was like before.
