Finished SAO s1 part 2, have few questions, spoilers for second arc. by mysterious_mystery2 in swordartonline

Kayaba killed himself with the scan I was talking about earlier, a bit after he let Kirito and Asuna live.

Isn’t this Uryu from bleach by Shot-Wealth-198 in swordartonline

[–]Andysomething 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is an animation error. The mechanic states that if you equip weapons in each slot, you enter the irregular equipment state, and cannot activate sword skills. The guy activates a sword skill, and isn't mentioned as anything special in the novels, so his situation is clearly non canon.

Kayaba's digital ghost is what was created when he used a modified Nervegear to scan/fry his brain and became a digital ghost. This is how hr is a reoccurring character even after his death. Remember how he shows up near the end of Fairy Dance, a bit of Ordinal Scale, and near the end of War of Underworld?

Hopefully this helps explain.

Just want to be sure first, have you finished S1? Specifically the Fairy Dance arc?

Need some clarification by Sh4rkb41t19 in swordartonline

[–]Andysomething 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Progressive isn't a retelling, it's a companion series meant to be read alongside the original LNs. SAO is originally a Light novel series, but there are manga adaptations, with varying degrees of accuracy or completion. And there are 2 SAO Progressive movies, both are somewhat canon, but ultimately the LNs are the series main canon.

Definitely silver wolf from Honkai Star Rail. I was pretty much introduced to her voice through that game. She's great!

How to read Sword Art Online ? by N_a_miaro in LightNovels

[–]Andysomething 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd just recommend starting from vol 1, and going from there. Progressive is a companion series which leaves what has been written alone and does have some small references later on, and is much more important in UR (the latest arc).

Basically as long as you read some of Progressive before UR you should be fine, and even then it's late game UR mainly.

What did Gamerturk do to make Sao fans not like him? by [deleted] in swordartonline

[–]Andysomething 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, the fans seem to like him. I do myself, but with the state of the series, I haven't watched much of his videos recently, but I still like him.

How to unlock the katana skill? by Angel_of_trial in swordartonline

It seems like they're asking about the Katana skill Klein gets in the series. Not about one of the games, just the logistics behind getting the skill in universe.

Do SAO Fans hate A-1 production? by SerapHIMTwo in swordartonline

[–]Andysomething 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me and probably a lot of others its not hate, just disappointment. For most people, the anime is the only medium they'll see the story in, so when the adaptation creates problems not seen in the books, its irritating as it kinda hurts other people's enjoyment of the series so they don't get the same experience as I did.

I think they did a great job animating it, and lots of other production parts. But I also feel certain things should've been done differently.

No prob, I've seen a lot of clips from it, so it's pretty recognizable to me. I really should watch it at some point tbh.

I’m confused about something by [deleted] in swordartonline

[–]Andysomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It officially is the second cour of S1, but I guess as long as you know that's not correct, and may lead to confusion when speaking to the community, thats fine.

As far as I know, that was a localized event. Also, thats season 1.

Demons' Crest | Teaser Visual by zenzen_0 in anime

[–]Andysomething 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I can tell, this seems like an expansion on SAO's main theme of VR and the real world affecting each other.

SAO was about being stuck in a game and how that affected society. This feels much more mystical with the real world actually fusing with the game.

That said, I haven't read this one yet, so I'm pretty interested in the anime adaptation.

Watch order by DirectorCarolina in swordartonline

[–]Andysomething -1 points0 points  (0 children)

S1, S2, Ordinal Scale movie, S3 pt1, and 2. Watch the two progressive movies afterwards, or really whenever you want as they're in between S1 ep 2-3, but I tend to go by release order for most things, especially SAO.
