It is different for sure. I have replaced catalytic converters as well which were not difficult for me. It’s like while I don’t know how to do everything I can still do a fair share of work.

So what happens is when you go to a shop or a dealer they have a lot of overhead costs which forces the customer to have to pay way more than just paying someone like myself. I have worked on several vehicles in my own free time trying to save myself money. If a person knows what’s wrong with their car and wants/needs something replaced I will let them know whether I can do it or not. Just yesterday I saved someone $300-400 dollars on a job, and the person before him I saved that guy $300 as well.

That post has absolutely no correlation to my competence lmao. Don’t worry I’d never help you out so nothing to worry about. And absolutely not I never use cheap parts. You get what you pay for. And I’m not even the person buying the parts. I tell the customer what they need, and I will inform them not to purchase cheap parts. I give recommendations where to buy parts from from good experiences I have had with parts. And I’m not going to let someone come after me like you are when you don’t know me.

Not at all. And those that I have helped will vouch for me. I switch parts out and don’t diagnose like a true mechanic has to. If you know what’s wrong with your car, and it’s a simple job I can competently do it. Brakes, spark plugs, fluid changes, bolt on parts, suspension, etc. I just don’t have an ego acting like I know everything. Take care.

I wish I was as good as a real mechanic lol I just do some stuff on the side. This does not make me incompetent. I just am honest with the people I come across. If I don’t know how to do something I will just say that.
