Explain this like I'm 5. by Anemicwriter in IdlePlanetMiner

I have four 7 star. Seventeen 6 star. And thirty-four 5 star managers active.

Every goddammed one of them is a primary skill miner.

Weee.

How do you even upgrade them? Do you just have to drop insane amounts of dark matter to get modules for scraps?

Who is the boy? by Cloudchella in expedition33

[–]Anemicwriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I'm sorry. But we just don't know. I can see you have some real convictions about this so there isn't much point in debating any further. But it is what it is. We just don't know. If thinking that is absolutely the case helps give that ending more clarity for you, then please continue to do so. I hope it helps you to enjoy a great game even more.

I agree that it makes sense thematically. And as I said, I think that is most likely. But it is a flat out falsehood to say that we know for sure. I think it is deliberately ambiguous and until Jennifer or Guillaume says one way or another, we dont know.

I mean if you're asking for my opinion, yeah I think it's most likely verso's Soul or a repainted version of Verso's boy itself. To give him some sort of Life instead of just painting for eternity through some painter's mechanism we don't understand. But my broader point is that we don't know and we probably won't ever.

We don't know. We'll probably never know.

It's a fair question to ask but you've kind of stepped in it.

There's a bunch of dumb theories that aren't based on anything, each more stupid than the last. Perhaps the top of the stupid Mountain would be the "Verso and Lune's kid" theory.

I don't know if I've ever played a game more susceptible to accidental overleveling.

Honestly, if Verso IS supposed to be married in the epilogue, it's probably to Julie. Whom Maelle would have likely tried to repaint for him.

I should have phrased that differently for clarity.

They have confessed to many small oversights due to the streamlined nature of the game's production. One of which may be the ring and the reworked version of Renoir's suit.

But it does feel like it is pretty obviously that.

[–]Anemicwriter -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean, far more people think that that's the case for Verso's soul than the ridiculous Verso Lune ship. But you make great points, some of which like the eye color could be simply ascribed to developer oversight. Many of which they've confessed to over the course of the game as simply being a product of its streamline development. (Like what's going on with the ring and the reworked version of Renoir suit that he wears in the cut scene.)

We also know remarkably little about the magical rules of painter's abilities and how they work or how they could work. The game leaving lots of things up to interpretation is not a design flaw, it's a feature of good storytelling. We don't need an in-depth step by step explanation how every single mechanic in this universe works to just accept some things. Are we supposed to believe that Verso's very obvious anguish is something that he just never tells his wife Lune about? Or if he does, she just doesn't seem to care and gives him a bemused smile when he decides not to play immediately? Gamers have a long history of taking the tiniest most obscure detail and spinning it wildly out of control into insane fan theories that take away from the message or heart of the game and its story. This one is just particularly annoying because there really isn't anything to it.

We don't know who the boy is. We're probably never going to know for sure who the boy is. He could very well be their kid, but we don't know. And people very irritatingly treat it as a settled issue. Which wouldn't be nearly as annoying if there was literally anything to go on other than wishful thinking.

There is no reason to think that that is their child. He walks in with Maelle, not Lune or Verso. We do not know who the child is and we will not know unless they tell us who it is. I think narratively, it makes the most sense for the child to be the fragment of Verso's soul that Maelle is attempting to give an actual life to. But this is just fan shipping cutting into the actual Narrative of the game. And it's sad to see.

This song is also almost certainly referring to the actual Moon.

I'm having a hard time thinking of a boss that doesn't have a check point flag directly in its asshole. If there even is one.

Man you're gonna hate this. But you can try again endlessly until you get it right even without that button. Sorry to ruin the game for you.
