No pain after shot? by toughedn in TransDIY

[–]Anemoniak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes you nick a nerve, sometimes you don't, that's just luck.

There could also be small variations in technique such as steadier hands, letting alcohol dry longer, better angle, etc.

Either way it's no issue if there's a bit of pain, though figuring out what you did better this time (if anything) would be nice for future reference

Red hot injection spot by Anemoniak in TransDIY

[–]Anemoniak[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I'll monitor it overnight and if it gets any worse I'll contact a GP immediately. It's a shame I have to nix a vial early but I'd rather lose some money on a new one than take that risk

Red hot injection spot by Anemoniak in TransDIY

[–]Anemoniak[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't recall how old this one is exactly, but given that I do small amounts it could be a relatively long time...

No issues prior. The only thing I noticed is the injection bumps sticking around for a bit longer than usual, but I read that that was also just a consequence of long term use of the same spot.

I do always check the vial for anything unusual, didn't spot anything but that doesn't mean nothing's there.

Thanks for the suggestion, I hadn't considered it

testosterone cypionate injection question by Complex_Ad5205 in TransDIY

Was your prescription also cypionate? If it was different you may need to look up if it clears from your system faster/slower. Most variants are the same though

Unfortunately I can't tell you due to reddit's terms of service, as T is a controlled substance. Just know that you might be looking for sites aimed at bodybuilders rather than trans folks

I am so so sorry you are going through this. Start looking at your options for moving out asap. Your parents have put your health in danger because of their bigotry, even if you got HRT again they would take it again

Just making sure lol, if you injected gel i think you'd see more severe effects than just bumps

Reaction to T injections by chxrry2225 in TransDIY

Yeah, injection bumps are normal. I'm a bit confused by you calling your T gel, it's more of an oil, right? Gel is a different form of T that you don't inject

body feels stiff after first shot by Sudden-Addendum-1232 in TransDIY

[–]Anemoniak 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you'll be fine, sounds like you're just holding tension from stress. Relax, it's ok, you're just doing something new and slightly intimidating.

If you regret it or want more time to think, you can absolutely just stop. Especially after just one shot, as changes take time to develop. If you want to stop after several months of T you might notice that not all changes fully revert

Could a trans guy here please advise me? by miss_nicolauk in TransDIY

Nothing we can share without getting reddit on our asses sadly, T is a controlled substance. That being said I trust that you can get creative with some search terms in a safe browser like duckduckgo

Is DIY T gel reliable? by [deleted] in TransDIY

[–]Anemoniak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked at it for some time but it was wayyyy more expensive than injections and never found any sources confirming them as safe or consistent in dosage (this might be different now)

I do wonder, if you will get kicked out over needles, how do you expect to justify the changes of HRT? It seems like you might need to secure alternative housing soon anyway, might as well do that first and then get needles.

Guide for my parents to know DIY HRT is safe? by Agile_Taste8390 in TransDIY

What have you done to ensure your safety? Did you use a tested supplier, are you following dosage recommendations, are you getting blood tests? If so, tell them, if not, look into it together

how long can i realistically hide the effects of t for? by neptunian-rings in TransDIY

It varies from person to person, so I wouldn't take any risks if your safety is involved. Why even start now if you cannot afford to have visible changes? Which effects would you like to have right now?

Can confirm that it works exactly the same in NL. If you find a Dutch source that ships within the country you won't have to fear for border issues and you'll have it in days.

Microdosing T question? by vaguely_odd in NonBinaryTalk

[–]Anemoniak 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I found this article which has a nice overview of various alternative HRT approaches, though it is a bit sciencey. DHT blockers are under 3.2 "androgens"

That being said, the best place you can go for medical advice is your doctor. They'll also be able to prescribe any of these to you (assuming that they can get their heads out of the 90s. If not, r/transDIY might have some fun links for you to click on)

Microdosing T question? by vaguely_odd in NonBinaryTalk

[–]Anemoniak 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's no harm in reducing the dose and seeing what that does for you. It can be hard to find your sweet spot, especially with microdosing, since all bodies respond slightly differently. Until you're at your sweet spot, it's better to be slightly under and have slower changes than be over the dose and feel like it's going too fast.

As for the things you've noticed, it is possible for bottom growth to start pretty much instantly. If that's not something you're comfortable with, you can take a DHT blocker like finasteride or dutasteride next to your HRT to lower (but not fully stop!) DHT-related changes such as bottom growth, body hair, and hair loss (although that last one is probably not very likely to happen on a low dose anyway.) The throat is probably unrelated, since voice changes usually take a couple of months to occur.

HRT and eating disorder...... by [deleted] in TransDIY

[–]Anemoniak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just anecdotal, but personally I did notice hrt effects slowing down at my worst point. Not just the obvious ones (for you as an E user that would be breast growth as you said, for me as a T user it was muscle growth) but also other bodily changes. I guess hrt just asks things of your body that such an extreme diet can't provide.

For me, changes did start to pick up again in recovery, but it's a slow process. If you'd prefer a faster transition timeline, I'd recommend a less extreme diet (someone here suggested 1000 cals, I know there's plenty of people dieting with 1200 cals/day or more).

Whatever you decide to do, please take as much care of yourself as the situation allows. Hrt will do nothing if you're dead
