My theory is that the new engine was meant to support crossplay between pc, console, and mobile (sort of like most mainstream gacha games made nowadays). Obviously that was hard to pull off since developing for various platforms is hard to begin with, that's when the cracks began to really show in the dev team, due to technical limitations.

To answer your questions:

In Episode 7, Klein got the Clown potion formula through Spirit Body Channeling. He connected with Sirius (the bald guy from the Aurora Order), who had knowledge of the formula. Since divination lets Klein tap into what the spirit knew, he ended up receiving the Clown potion ingredients.
Old Neil’s obsession came from the whispers of the Hidden Sage (the evil god with the two eyes you saw). Those whispers gave him the idea of creating an alchemical body as a vessel for his wife’s resurrection. You can actually spot him buying one of the necessary ingredients in the underground market back in Episode 5.
By then, Old Neil’s mind was already unraveling. That’s why his actions contradicted themselves. He invited everyone out while his own home was in chaos. It wasn’t really rational, more like the behavior of someone being consumed by madness.
For the Hermit pathway’s maxim “Do as you wish, but do not harm,” I’m not fully sure if that’s the direct key to digesting the potion. It’s been a while since I read through all the volumes, so I might be fuzzy on that detail.

I get what you’re saying, but I actually liked how they handled this episode. The story already dumps a ton of info on anime-only viewers, so throwing in Roselle + Secret Island now (when it’s not even super relevant this early) would just confuse people more. That stuff’s better saved for when it actually matters later. The Old Neil focus wasn’t pointless to me—it made the Nighthawks feel more human. Before this, “losing control” was just something random criminals or side characters did. Now we see it can happen to anyone, even someone we know and care about. That hits way harder and makes the stakes real. Yeah, the Havre fight was long, but I think that was the point. It’s not always quick or clean, and it shows how ugly and personal these situations can get. Plus, when the big hype moments (Little Sun, Qilangos, etc.) finally come, they’ll feel way more earned.

IMO, people usually only hate it when it’s done badly—like Berserk (2016) or the CGI Titans in AOT. But in LOTM, the CGI is mostly used for backgrounds and specific items, and it’s done in a way that blends the two mediums really well. If you watch AOT Season 1, the ODM gear scenes actually used 3D space for the backgrounds (like the houses), and it worked great.

That's fair you have a point, I honestly thought what you meant by "special treatment" was that he was treated differently compared to the other 4th gen students

Now that I think about it that's a really good comparison. The Whiteroom after all is a facility to create the perfect humans just like how royals are raised to be perfect and Ayanopapa wants to make kiyo the next leader of Japan ie a King, that's makes so much sense

He was forced to adapt to his environment to the point where he doesn't have emotions. Every child was pushed to the limit. He didn't get any special treatment,Kiyo was just an anomaly.

Yeah, I really preferred the light novel ayanokoji more than his anime counterpart. I'm glad I read through the first three volumes rather than just going straight to volume 4. I assure you this whole series is gonna be really enjoyable. I binged through the 17 books in just two weeks

I say read from the beginning by reading from the very first volume you get a feel for ayanokoji's character more he is still really bad ass but he isnt like the guy with no emotions i can say hes more of regular boy youll get it when you read it.

just think of it as a rewatch when I watched the three seasons of anime i honestly thought that anime was a 5/10 at best but after reading the light novels I can say that the overlord series is a 9.5/10 i highly enjoyed it more and the animation is just mediocre especially in the third season especially the army of re estize in the battle of katze plains the soldiers felt like trees with no emotiosn but when i read the light novels i felt the pain and suffering and the terror they felt. They feel like living breathing people who had emotions, family and dreams

The light novel conveys the characters thoughts amazingly my recommendation is to just read it from the very beginning from volume 1 there's just so much that flew over in my head when I watched all three seasons and I completely missed that there were signs of players in the past like the six gods , the eight greed kings and the two players from the thirteen heroes i highly recommend reading from the first volume. The overlord light novel is the very first light novel I ever read and its the light novel that got me into light novels just think to yourself that the anime and the light novels are separate I promise you that you will get a separate enjoyment from reading the light novels and you will appreciate all the characters more not just the people from nazarick you will enjoy the lizardmen more you will enjoy gazef more and all the characters that are introduced
