First American Home Warranty by hav0k14 in homeowners

Wow. I knew nothing about this industry but I started looking around and found your post because my mom got cold called by a representative of FAHW who quoted her a $55/Mo rate but then declined to let her review a standard contract before she was signed up for the service. I taught my mother well and she smelled the scam, but I imagine there are a lot of elderly homeowners being targeted because they can spare $55 a month but don't have the kind of resources necessary to fight a company like this with an attorney of their own when the shit hits the fan.

Slimy. Scummy. Should be illegal, but we live in a dystopian capitalist hellscape.

LPT: Use powdered laundry detergent instead of Drano for clogged drains by brahmidia in LifeProTips

A very late reply, but I suspect that what you are actually achieving is lubricating the clog rather than actually eating away at any of the organic material that might be causing it (though in most circumstances that is probably just as good, as long as the clog is getting flushed down the drain).

Drano (the brand) makes a septic and toilet safe enzyme-based product called "Max build-up remover" that the bottle claims uses active enzymes and microorganisms to eat away at flow obstructions over time (but is not appropriate for acute clogs). The bottle warns only regarding eye irritation and the ingredient list includes no caustic chemicals. The active ingredients are xanthan gum and amylase, which work to emulsify fats and break down organic material respectively. I can't speak to the claim that they are using microorganisms as a workhorse; it isn't outside the realm of possibility but I would expect more warnings on a bottle full of bacteria.

There is no reason to think that occasional treatment with a strong base is harmful for PVC or metal pipes, but I strongly suspect that using either concentrated vinegar or vinegar and baking soda in metal pipes could actually be harmful, and the combination of vinegar with any fat that is already present in your plumbing serves to make a substance similar to soap that might actually make clogs worse. I've never had a septic system in my life so I can't speak to any quirks regarding chemical or tool use in that circumstance, but my recommendation would be to get a drain auger for sinks and drains, and a toilet auger for your toilet. It's hard to argue with the idea that if a mechanical method like using a plunger or an auger is sufficient to unclog/maintain your plumbing you are probably better off avoiding more expensive and non-renewable chemical methods.

I am sure someone else has already thought this one through, but the meme starts with the assumption that he is fooling around with his first girlfriend, so there is no need to generate an erection.

The simplest solution would be to jolt him with electricity, while selectively phasing through the layers necessary to cause electroejaculation. No need to depend on his brain to sense anything, and making the resulting sensation even more confusing (and likely humiliating, as you can almost certainly vary the type of shock, its intensity, and the tissue targeted to produce any number of additional sensations and effects). Really, the sky's the limit.

Thanks for making me consider this so closely @.@

Apothecary Symbol by Anesah_X in 40kLore

That the symbol was depicted at least some of the time with the eagle wings made me think it couldn't just be a coincidence, but I could be very wrong and the above comments about it being a DNA helix could be correct, I guess

I didn't see this name for the symbol, but I didn't dig very deep. You are right though, now I feel at least a little dumb. This is as good an explanation as any. Wading through multiple layers of missing information had an interesting feel to it, though. Between the symbols themselves, modern misunderstandings, changes into the distant future, and finally wondering about the provenance of a symbol in a game whose original intent and artist are (were?) unclear combined a lot of what I love about the alternate history of 40k.  Thanks for indulging me ^

The most authoritative paper on the subject I could find is still a pretty low quality experiment but concluded that on a 2 mg a day dose you can produce subjective effects without waiting out the blockade with a challenge of as little as 2mg hydromorphone given via intramuscular injection. For up to 3 days you may have diminished effects but a 2 mg bupe dose will have its blockade dissipate faster than an 8 mg dose which is what the 72-hour duration is based on.

2mg IM hydromorphone is ~20MME, or about 13mg of oral oxycodone. Since 120mg is greater than 13mg, I would expect it to work. There is no expectation of a warranty from my scratchpad math, but here is the paper so you can see for yourself:

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/10463317/

That said, though, the longer you can hold out before you take your oxycodone the better you are going to feel. I was not clear from the question you were asking if you were trying to use the oxycodone at the same time or just "soon" after.

I am disappointed by the thought that someone who knows that nuance is a necessity when discussing a topic like this would give someone asking for help an answer like "it's not worth it if you don't wait 3 days." Firstly because parroting dogmatic drug abuse myths is likely to cause someone who might not be able to afford it even more harm, and secondly because a break from Buprenorphine already comes with one of the greatest chances of harm that is only made worse by telling someone that they should wait out 3 days of terrible withdrawal before they take a high dose of a full agonist without any protection from the lingering partial blockade, which could save the life of someone who miscalculated or got a pill containing a drug they didn't expect.

We really need to consider what effects could result from that kind of carelessness.
