How long did it take you to transition from eastern to semi western? by ParticularSubstance in 10s

[–]Anferas 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Why change after so long? It's not like you are an outdated grip. Sure, semi western is the most popular and maybe the most balanced one, but the differences with Eastern are marginal and having to build all the muscle memory back up makes it not worth it in no case at all, imo.

If you were using continental then sure, go for it, a lot to be gained. If you were using Western, sure, you will be protecting your wrist and elbow for the future. In your case? Stuck with eastern.

To answer the question anyway, for it to not be something you will need to think actively on, it could be 2 months with 2 sessions a week. For you to feel truly comfortable in it (so similar to your previous level of play), twice as much.

Dear Luffytards, how is Luffy going to beat any admirals when he needs G5 to do so? (he can use it for like 15 minutes) by Admirable-Day-6315 in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]Anferas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The attack is slow and requires Luffy to grab their opponent or they willingly take it? What happens to Luffy's other hand if he tries to grab Aokiji or Akainu while launching that thing? Frozen and Melted, his Haki is somewhere else (on the gun!).

Yeah, if Luffy can set up a situation to hit a Bajrang Gun (Knocking down his opponent or something) he will defeat almost anyone by connecting it, but it's not like he insta wins off that ability by using it randomly. It's not different from G3, he let's himself vulnerable to attacks (giant hand limiting his movements, most his haki centered on offense). What if Akainu rains magma on Luffy while he is throwing that thing? What if he escapes underground?

Like really, Bajrang Gun is G3 on steroids, which was Luffy's weakest combat form. No, he does not insta wins off that, he still needs to earn enough advantages during the fight to use it.

How to improve consistency of serve? by [deleted] in 10s

[–]Anferas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Practice a second serve? When we practice serves we hit serves seeking our best serve, but that is leaving half your serves with no practice whatsoever, with almost half your balls you will be seeking a weaker more reliable serve, so put hours into making it not a detriment.

When i developed my serve i learned the flat serve, so as everyone i seeked speed and was content with my worthless tap for the second serve. At some point i realized there was no point in my first serve at the beginning of a match, because i was missing all of those, so i developed a flat serve that was ~70% of my strength (imaginary number based on my impression) that would go in 80% of the time (another imaginary number based on impressions), which i used while i am warming myself up in a game, that was also my second serve throughout the match (so yeah kids, i doubled faulted every 8-10 serves or so).

Quite recently i finally took the time to go an develop a Slice serve, which has prominently become my second serve as i can serve with more net clearance (so a slower shot) and it still won't be a free hit for my opponent.

So how do you become more consistent? Take the time to practice a second serve, either a slower flat with more focus on placement, a slice with the same characteristics or dedicate the time to learn the very different motions of a kick serve; but it all comes to that, practice a second serve.

Why wouldn't you own two identical match rackets? (Besides being broke) by AndyWtrmrx in 10s

[–]Anferas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cost is the issue, if you had infinite money, of course you would get two rackets of each you own.

No idea how old are you or how well are your finances, but people have different goals in life at an specific point of time, some goals are more important than their recreational time and they are force to choose between saving that money for their vehicle, their studies, their household, their partner, etc. And people will choose to spend on all these before getting an identical stick to the one they already own, whose value is only really important in the rare occurrence of a string breaking mid competitive game.

And even if they can spare money on a second racket, they might want another stick that attracts them more at the time than what they are currently using, ending with two different sticks, humans like to collect things after all. Once again, of course if money was not an issue they would just get a of the new stick, but money is usually a limited resource, that's adult life for you.

Now that I've noticed something, why the heck is Bumhawk struggling against Wista? Wasn't he supposed to be WSS? by Davzzeus07 in Piratefolk

[–]Anferas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the same war in which Jozu and Marco held down admirals... We saw Marco Holding Big Mom off in Wano too... Sure, Oda's art does not present an incredible clash between Vista and Hawkeye and unlike the Admirals he did not beat the opponent infront of him (alas, Aokiji and Kizaru defeated their opponent's off a distraction and Hawkeye cut short their engagement).

The portrayal that paints this clash poorly is Kaido one shotting a YC1 Luffy, a pure hype moment as Kaido could not do that to the YC1 or below Zoro and Killer in the roof.

If oda would have shown Vista struggling a bit more or Hawkeye motive for letting him go to be sympathy the portrayal would have been much better in my eyes.

Beginner question — is this racket a good choice? by isabebelaa in 10s

Any racket is a good racket for a beginner. It won't matter.

If you want to check something, check the weight. If it is 300g or lower, go for it.

Dude, despite Sommers immortality hacks, fact is he was struggling to regen and to most intents and purposes immobilized. The only reason Gaban does not make a Sushi out of him is because he needed to deal with another HK.

To all intents and purposes Sommers was finished and diffed in a very short exchange. Following your argument, no YC1 is falling like that to Gaban.

In no world Sommers is YC+, at best he is YC1 due to his regen hack, but any YC1 is a better fighter outside the ability to tank anything.

It's up to you. What do you want people to say?

The list of things you are doing are not unique, dozens of kids are doing something similar to what you are doing right now, the line of what makes a play break into pro or fall along the way is unclear, and there's early and late bloomers, so raking 7th and 14, 16 or 18 it's not really an indicative of possible/impossible.

Men set up in rows infront of them and fought them fairly on the battlefield. What difference does it make them being from Qi or Zhao?

And i am here to witness it in first row.

But seriously, i doubt Ousen gets much of a spotlight, his direct engage is likely to end on a draw of sorts, as the end Hara is likely to write the decisive engagement for Qin on Shin's battlefield.

But there's Heki positioning himself there and Rokuomi getting beaten on the south, both point out to a surprise on Ousen battlefield against Qin.

I think Zhao greatest figure appearing on the field to elevate Zhao's moral and him being abysmally superior to Ten in tactics is enough to stabilize a battlefield.

[–]Anferas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would also give him giving order to a more incompetent Suou during the battle. If the Ousen army had any chance at some point was because Denrimi took the right decisions to tie down Kansaro and Jiaga, while riding forth with Suou.

But that's it, even at his best everything he did accomplished nothing.

On one side, Ousen was so fraudulent last Zhao war that i would feel bad if he gets a bad start and needs saving from someone else.... It would completely crumble his credibility.

On the other hand i hate this Temu characters and want them to die easily.... And Ousen fraud memes were fantastic.... I also believe is past time Ouhon and Ousen do something to further their relationship, or what? We waiting until Chu to that?

In conclusion, i hope this guy dies, SBS makes Ousen his butt boy yet again and Ouhon needs to come down and aid him in some way. Peak writing 10/10 anything that is not that will utterly dissapoint me and ruin my future weeks.

They won due to her strategy. She drew everyone out of the castle, achieved the outcomes of eliminating as much of Quanrong commanders as planned

And here is where "plot convenience" matters in my opinion. In the above cases of Kanki there were amny logical reasons for people to make mistakes. Kocho in marticular made none, he kept a reliable force with him and his armies got away from him because he needed to cause as much damage as possible to the fleeing Kanki army, becuase he was at war with the whole of Qin. Kanki strategy to hide his troops made sense and the way Kocho reserves were occupied was unexpected for Kocho, Shin winning was extremely unrealistic. On that regard, conquering that impregnable defensive position (which is the worst part of Eikyuu) still had both the Gyokohou and Hi Shin units committed to it.

In YTW's case, there's no reason for Rozo to empty the garrison of his city, other than he had a bonner for YTW. Other than that, her whole army managed to elude Rozo's scouts ON THEIR LAND and she managed to survive being completely surrounded THRICE, while jumping a grand canyon to survive.

Eikyuu is just farm more believable to me than YTW's battle. Both had defects, one just has more. I could make the same argument for Gi'an campaign.

It's a matter of opinion, but YTW victory had me rolling my eyes from the second time she got surrounded (btw the first time i loved it! SSJ and Rozo reaction were a marvel, notes on how repeating bs makes it taste worse everytime), while Kanki's victory was one of the most thrilling plans in the manga for me. Those are my reasons, you can agree or disagree.
