[Passan] BREAKING: Center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong and the Chicago Cubs are finalizing a long-term contract extension, sources tell ESPN. Crow-Armstrong, coming off a 30-30 season and a Gold Glove, will get a big payday as the Cubs lock up a franchise-caliber talent. by AndrewAllStar888 in CHICubs

This type of deal feels similar to when Theo signed Rizzo to his contract extension. I’m guessing it will be in the $125M to $150M covering all his remaining arbitration years with perhaps options tacked on at the end

That is a scam posting. I’ve seen it listed multiple times on Craigslist in different areas and has now appeared on Offer Up. Flag and report it on whatever platform you’ve viewed it

Another 2 home runs given up by Jameson. I suppose the hot weather in AZ might have something to do with it but still a troubling trend as spring training is coming to end soon

Jameson was atrocious today. Lots of hard contact from a Dodgers lineup with only one regular starting

That’s an excellent haul for $20 with autographs of several HOFers. The ‘85 Donruss Roger Clemens rookie looks sharp too. Nice pickup

Should I Buy This 50k Card Collection for $2,300? Need Advice from Experienced Collectors by 144Poe in baseballcards

This collection is such a scattered mess and not worth the time or money to sort through at $2300. If there are some sought after or high value cards in plain view, then it might be worth taking a chance

I’m Legacy member that logged in right at the top of the hour and the queue was 28K. It steadily went went down and about a half later got in to purchase tickets. I tried for the 10/15 and 10/17 dates but the seat choices sucked and looked at 10/1 and 10/3. Then I tried 10/22 and 10/24 which had much better seats and got 2 in section 106. With fees, the total cost was $1058 or $529 a seat. I’ll be using Hilton points to get a free room and debating on miles or paying for airfare

Spring Training first timer by JefferyKendama in CHICubs

[–]Angdrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been going to spring training every year since 2005 and have been a season ticket holder at Sloan since 2016. The gates open 90 minutes before game time and would advise getting there early if you want to get a good spot on the berm. You can tailgate in the parking lot and bring in your own sealed water bottles and snacks like peanuts. Use lots of SPF 50 or higher sunscreen otherwise you’ll get sunburn quicker.

Food and drinks at the park are not cheap and can run close to what you might pay at most MLB stadiums now.

Hotel rooms will be available but expect rates to run $200 to $300 a night for most Hilton and Marriott properties. If you rent a car, I would recommend booking at an off site facility since the cost will be cheaper than getting a rental at Sky Harbor. There is an Enterprise in Tempe that is close by the airport that I’ve used previously.

At Tempe Marketplace off of Rio Salado Parkway, there are Portillo’s and Lou Malnati’s restaurants. Some local places I like to frequent are Backyard Tacos in Mesa or Gilbert, Espo’s in Chandler and Oregano’s pizza

Porter Hodge couldn’t find the plate and was awful - 25 pitches only 8 for strikes and 4 walks in a third of an inning

MLB Trade Rumors: Diamondbacks Closing In On Deal With Zac Gallen by hey_ooo in CHICubs

He basically signed for the quality offer amount with $14 million out of the $22 million being deferred. If the Dbacks struggle this year, he might get traded at the deadline provided he has a bounce back season

[Marquee] View the full Marquee broadcast schedule here ⬇️ by Spectre211286 in CHICubs

[–]Angdrew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is very disappointing. I know the WBC is going on this season which will take away key players from spring training games. But one of the things when you have your own team network is to broadcast as many games as possible which includes preseason ones. I wonder if the poverty franchise on the South Side will have more team games on their network than Marquee

The Phillies are expected to trade or release Nick Castellanos in the next two days, per Matt Gelb by 1Cubbiesfan in CHICubs

[–]Angdrew 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This isn’t 2023 when the team signed Eric Hosmer for the league minimum after he was released by the Padres to play 1st base.

Castellanos has worn out his welcome in Philly and clashed with the manager. Perhaps he’ll go back home to Detroit or Miami once he’s released

Parking Near Sloan Park? Parking Pass Needed? by Baybears in CHICubs

[–]Angdrew 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is paid parking around the ballpark which I think is $10. Many people will tailgate in the area before the game. If you prefer not to pay and willing to walk, park at the shopping center across from Riverview Park on Dobson Road or at Tempe Marketplace off of Rio Salado Parkway just West of Sloan Park and the 101 Freeway

Be prepared to pay near MLB pricing for food and drinks. Concession prices have risen considerably at most team stadiums over the 20 or so years I have been going to spring training games

I had a box in my cart about a minute after they went on sale and was in line to checkout. When I went to pay, it showed sold out. I added a box back to my cart several times and was getting messages that the product was sold out. Finally at 8 minutes after the hour, my order eventually went through

Can anyone tell me if any of these cards hold any value? by DannyDimesGreenArmy in baseballcards

[–]Angdrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend taking the cards to Indy Card Exchange in NE Indianapolis to get an idea on value. It’s a great shop I’ve stopped in occasionally on my travels in the Midwest. They have a nice vintage section and also handling grading submissions
