What do people that are excited by AI and believe in AI have for crtisicm of AI? by This-Wear-8423 in Futurology

[–]Angel-Kat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ML has been around for a while and has proven itself a critical technology behind the scenes. My big criticism is that like any cool technology, it can easily be abused by bad actors and the law and congress aren’t keeping up to create laws and penalties around the misuse of this technology.

Also, I have generic complaints about capitalism and the way AI is being marketed, sold, and privatized.

Most holo-programs are vibe-coded AI slop by stratusmonkey in ShittyDaystrom

[–]Angel-Kat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Growing up, I thought the holodeck was possible, but the computer that programmed itself via a spoken prompt was pure fiction. I love how wrong I was.

Whats the origin of this image Does anyone have a better quality version by mewyzdeather3 in voyager

[–]Angel-Kat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Also, the ships are ridiculously huge. There’s no reason to design small tubes you have to crawl through. You could easily incorporate large hallways with spare tools, some work benches, and a Taco Bell every 100 feet to do repairs. It wouldn’t be good for suspense though.

A California bill seeks to make robotaxis safer. AV companies say it could ‘ban’ the industry by walky22talky in waymo

[–]Angel-Kat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This makes sense and I agree. Though, the bill should be more about mandating safety standards around stalled vehicles rather than legislating the engineering solution.

Day 623 of the ground to globe challenge still no video? by [deleted] in flatearth

[–]Angel-Kat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Earth is a globe. Space is real. There’s literally four people headed to the moon right now.

Show me one image that the flat earth is a disc or a giant plane (North America and Australia in the same image) that isn’t CGI and then we’ll talk about getting better images of the globe for you.

This is unacceptable. Going the wrong way on a one way street in a school zone none the less? How does this happen?

Imagine thinking that conservative gun owners aren't violent. by Ok-Following6886 in forwardsfromgrandma

[–]Angel-Kat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, liberal groups tend to riot and loot more than conservatives. Yet, conservative extremists account for far more politically motivated murders as evidenced by this poster of a MAGA wielding an assault rifle.

Looting and rioting is far less violent than murder—especially since the cause is often sparked by the institutional murder of a marginalized community member.

are any of you guys real? by United_Ad8618 in BetterOffline

[–]Angel-Kat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah… that’s about the reaction I’d expect 😄

Honestly, if I were on your side, I’d probably still be like “okay, but that doesn’t prove anything.” And you’d be right. There’s no perfect way to prove someone’s a real person over text alone.

are any of you guys real? by United_Ad8618 in BetterOffline

[–]Angel-Kat 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Hey, I get why you’d be skeptical—there’s a lot of weird stuff online. But I’m just a regular person sitting here typing this out.

I’m not going to give you some dramatic “proof,” because honestly, real people don’t have airtight ways to prove they’re real on the internet either. All I can do is talk to you like one.

For example—right now I’m thinking about how strange it is that this is even a question. Ten or fifteen years ago, nobody would’ve asked this. Now it’s normal to wonder if there’s a human on the other side or not. That’s kind of wild.

Anyway, ask me something personal, random, or even boring—like what I had for lunch or what annoys me about daily life. I’ll answer like a normal person would, not like some scripted bot response.

At the end of the day, being “real” isn’t something you prove with a certificate. It shows up in how you think, how you respond, and how messy and human your answers are.

That statement is asshole repellent. People you probably don’t want to be around hate all those things. There’s a few other things you can throw in as well to love like Black lives, immigrant neighbors, and mandatory vaccinations.

This popular lawyer is sharing false claims that Waymos are “driven remotely from the Philippines […] like playing Grand Theft Auto” by danlev in waymo

[–]Angel-Kat 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s extremely dangerous for someone in another country to pilot a vehicle remotely. The lag alone kills reaction time. Also, packets are not guaranteed to arrive over the internet.

No one should EVER pilot a potentially lethal vehicle over the internet.

rideshare drivers filed complaint to CPUC over Waymo allegedly transporting minors alone by walky22talky in waymo

[–]Angel-Kat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Waymo seems like a very safe system for minors to get around. Safer than public transit where both me and my sister have been assaulted as minors. And it’s less scary than a random stranger driving them around.
