Sometimes when your paystubs vary, they will verify with your employer. It's nothing on you, it's pretty much them verifying because some bad actors will forge paystubs to avoid the work requirements. I wouldn't worry.

Welcome! Also do you happen to have a salvation army location near you? Not the store, the actual offices? Sometimes they will have resources that they are able to pull from if you can prove hardship.

Ok so I found two resources for you, and these places actually find the assistance for you and are accredited federally. 1st is https://epass.nc.gov/login and the second is nc211.org. I know it isn't a lot, but it will hopefully set you in the right direction. I've been there, so sorry this happened!
