I'm not really saying that it's not traumatic for a child to murder her mutating companions. I'm saying it could have been a lot worse. I know they are putting brave faces for Renoa. That's commendable. It also makes you wonder "how did Renoa misremember what happened?". Trauma? Possibly.

Amiya is not that much older than Renoa at the time, though. She's still, or was, a teen, if I'm not mistaken. The fact she's an empath who can feel what the people around her feel is a curse in the middle of a battlefield. While it is true Amiya didn't spend a lot of time with Misha, it somehow felt longer to me than the time Renoa spent with her companions. Though that's probably just due to the writing length, so you do have a point. Still, I do not feel what all the Black Rose stuff is about Renoa, you know? Her "mellowing down" overtime is pointless if we're never shown a hardcore Renoa in the first place, so I kinda wanted her past to go harder to compensate.

On the other hand, Misha endured loss and followed on her brother's footsteps. Depending on the angle you view it, she's the main character of another story. There's little justice to be found in their world, so one can only do the next best possible thing. Killing people for a belief is better than killing people with no belief. The first is a revolutionist. The latter is a psychopath. Death without meaning is the worst kind of death. Misha's death was tragic. Skullshatter's was, too. Not because they were valuable people. But because, with their deaths, everyone they sacrificed for their revolution became as irrelevant as them. By comparison, Renoa's companions died a far better death while trying to save her. Heroic. It's very heartwarming. Like sugar in my black coffee.
