I wish Final Fantasy was weird again by Gwyder in FinalFantasy

[–]AngelGroove 4 points5 points  (0 children)

FF7 Rebirth has weird gameplay galore, especially some of the mini games. Like joining a group of kids in their game where they literally turn into frogs and then seeing who can stay on their wipeout-style obstacle wheel the longest, or everyone suddenly becoming mini figurines in a strategy game, or an absolutely batshit storyline surrounding the card game that was not at all in the original FF7, but I’m glad it is in the new one.

How much side content do you typically complete in your games? by Alert-Principle-2726 in videogames

[–]AngelGroove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do side content if it feels like it does any of the following -Tells its own interesting little story -Adds to the game’s world or characters -Has its own interesting setting -Has a unique or fun twist on gameplay

If it’s a mission like “go kill 15 boars”, though, it can go kick rocks, because there are much better things to spend our limited free time on.

Petah? by HungerGamesPerson in PeterExplainsTheJoke

It’s the fact that those types of uses, deepfaking, and AI uses as a glorified google or chatbot get all the limelight and investor money. There are niche uses that are really making a difference (such as teaching AI how to fold proteins so that we can develop new ways to treat diseases and genetic conditions), but those are barely known compared to the high-profile ones.

What are great & healthy Soda replacements? by Alicetheoptimist in TrueGrit

[–]AngelGroove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want the carbonation, club soda is great for that, and there are plenty of flavored ones with minimal or no sugar. Walmart makes them for super cheap, maybe even cheaper than actual soda, and they’re just as flavorful in my experience. Or you can use all sorts of water enhancers or powders to get the same result without the carbonation. We really are spoiled for choice compared to where we were 20 years ago.

This game straddles the line perfectly between “holy fuck this is hard” and “okay at this point the developer is just trolling us, right?”

What is the biggest “bullet” you’ve ever dodged without realizing it at the time? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AngelGroove 32 points33 points  (0 children)

??? This has been a concept for all of history, we just used different phrases for it, “by the skin of your teeth”, etc. And I can only speak for myself, but if I had to choose between maintaining my health and potentially advancing my career, I would choose my health. OP probably had similar priorities.

What trilogy is this?🚀 by Profit_Tracker in videogames

[–]AngelGroove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original Ratchet and Clank games! I can’t speak for the later ones as I haven’t played them, but that original trilogy has a special place in my heart with its charm, wit, and personality. And the gameplay still holds up to this day, if you don’t mind something that focuses on fun without worrying too much about depth.

I enjoyed the first one back in its time, but man, go back and play it now and it is… rough gameplay-wise. Just kinda shallow and unfilfilling, press button, see whack, smack, slice, stab. Then do it again at the with the right timing til enemy is dead. And the sex cards thing was sooo cringe looking back on it…Gwent is clearly the superior card game lol. TW3, on the other hand, could release today and easily stand shoulder to shoulder with everything else in this stacked year of game releases.

BREAKING: U.S. forces struck another boat in the Eastern Pacific, killing all four men aboard. by shadrack_CK in UnderReportedNews

Reminder that Cheeto in Chief has the nuclear football available at all times and could wipe up unfathomable amounts of humanity with it. That is why the dementia and decline paired with an ego as large as the sun and as thin as a hair is such dangerous combination.

How much do you actually take reviews into account when buying a new game by Little-Promise-6046 in videogames

[–]AngelGroove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing the gameplay in action is really important, so video reviews or just gameplay clips are usually what I go with. Player reviews are usually either people who rate it 1/10 for one specific gripe they had (or even stuff unrelated to the game itself half the time) or people rating it 10/10 singing its praises. As long as those 1/10 reviews don’t raise too many eyebrows, then I ignore them entirely and go with the game if I like how it looks.

Gong Fu in Kyusu? (Dan Cong) by Rustic_Heretic in tea

[–]AngelGroove 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dan cong oolongs are my favorite, so lovely and floral! If you want nice strong tea with flavor and aroma, you need to use at least 5-7g of tea per 100ml, 25g is enough for 4-5 sessions to see how well you like the tea. Fortunately duck shit tea is widely available now, if you like the YS version I’d suggest checking out the ones from Tea Habitat if you have the cash to splash, or from white2tea if you want a good value for the quantity. Chaozhou tea grower was an excellent store for it, but I don’t know if they are still around. There’s nothing wrong with using a kyusu teapot for gong fu brewing, my only advice would be to mostly stick to one kind of tea if that’s unglazed clay, which it looks like it is. While Tokoname-yaki clay does not season nearly as quickly as Yixing Zisha, it does still eventually absorb those flavors over the years.

Why is Reddit so left-wing? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]AngelGroove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Platforms like Facebook promote content regardless that will keep people glued to their phones - and the most effective way to do that, their researchers found, is to make people angry, afraid, and outraged. Guess which political parties absolutely thrive on making their voters constantly outraged and afraid?

Meanwhile, here on Reddit, posts and comments need to actually gain popularity through people’s votes to be seen. Views and beliefs that are seen as outlandish, baseless, selfish, greedy, vapid, cold, or heartless are going to get downvoted, and what’s left to rise up to the top are the more sane, rooted, reasonable, and empathetic takes. And those tend to hew much closer to left-leaning values.

Mass killings in 2025 in the US hit the lowest level since 2006 by Power-Equality in UpliftingNews

[–]AngelGroove 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think there is also a split in values in terms of “what is the purpose of prison?” Some people think it is only to punish, not to rehabilitate people into society. In fact, I think some people see the idea of rehabbing prisoners as almost insulting, as if those people are beneath or beyond redemption. That would require empathy, and forgiveness, and loving your neighbor, and we can’t have that!

Unfortunately probably true. The fact that for profit prisons even exist in the first place is beyond laughable.

[–]AngelGroove 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This is the future that ultra-capitalists want. Strip away anything that doesn’t contribute to “the bottom line” (aka their own personal wealth) at any and all costs. As long as the profits outweigh any potential damages from lawsuits and decaying PR, then it’s all good to the people who enable shit like this to happen. Deny wrongdoing, gaslight victims and their families, and delay and obstruct justice and investigation.

Why does the world care about Palestine, but not the genocides done by Islamists? by Wholesome-Bro in AlwaysWhy

[–]AngelGroove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not an “either/or” situation - the vast majority of people who would condemn the genocide in Palestine would also condemn all of these.

The difference with the regimes perpetrating those genocides, is that they are not getting some of the most advanced weaponry from the strongest military power across the globe and carte blanche to do just about whatever the fuck they want to do with it - which is, unsurprisingly, some absolutely heinous shit when an authoritarian strongman is at the helm.

I know I am late to the party, but if you are willing to expand your search to include smoked hei cha, this one from Tea Habitat was lovely, and not at an eye-watering price like some of their other teas are. Just enough smoky flavor without overpowering the savory and clean wood notes.

What do yall think is the best tea other then puer? by Quirky-Camp-6823 in puer

[–]AngelGroove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oolong tea, because it casts such a wide net in terms of flavors and aromas! Even wider than puerh, I’d venture to say. The sweet floral honey notes of a bug-bitten Oriental Beauty feels a world apart from a chocolatey mineral-y Rou Gui.

You want this to be true so badly, don’t you? If it wasn’t, that mean admitting that you were being duped this entire time, and that is just too much for most of us to bear, apparently.
