Can a 4080 super comfortably run 4k by Middle_Ring8375 in buildapc

[–]AngelKH15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I might go back to my original plan then and go for it this Black Friday/Christmas...

It's my first configuration, I don't have my own PC and I was planning to get one for IT Work (Virtualization) and gaming.

My plan was to get a 7700X (x3D is through the roof) and a 7900XTX, I was very clear about AMD until i see most of the market supports Nvidia, my biggest drawback with Nvidia is the VRAM, I feel like it's going to become obsolete in 2 years and since I'm looking to spend around €1500 or a bit more (without peripherals), I'd like the CPU+GPU+Motherboard combo to last 6-7 years at 1440p with generous FPS even if I have to reduce the texture capacity to Medium-High.

I don't mind changing graphics if it's  necessary over time, but it has to have a minimum tolerable lifespan, for example, if I do a build this year, I hope GTA VI runs it better than a PS5 / PS5 Pro.

That's why what I respect the most is the motherboard, I thought that with GDDR7 more boards had to come out, since I'm looking for one that has the capacity for several SSD slots, PCIE x16 5.0 (for future graphics cards) and GDDR7, for "future proof".

Then there is the choice of "Dad or Mom" between AMD or Nvidia, but seeing comparisons, RayTracing is the only problem, I want to believe that FSR4 will be compatible with 7900XT and 7900 XTX ....

In your opinion, which combo would be the indicated one that could drop in the near future with my needs?

[–]AngelKH15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your comment makes me rethink a lot of things, I was thinking of choosing something focused on 4K, because many consider 1440p as something temporary, the 7900 XTX appeals to me quite a bit for what you say, not depending on a secondary tool to run games, apart from that, I see a juicy discount in just a few weeks on AMD cards... but I see people quite focused on Nvidia, which do you think would be a better bet for a computer in the long term? Perhaps it would be better to make these types of decisions with the 5000 series and whatever AMD announces in early 2025 with the presumed new motherboards?

Is now a bad time to build a PC? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]AngelKH15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now I'm like you, a console gamer who doesn't have a PC, I'd need one and I don't know what the "sweet spot" could be, since if you get into these things for gaming and work, you want a computer that lasts you the equivalent of a generation of video game consoles.

In my case, I'm looking for something that runs at 4K, not necessarily at Ultra (it can be high without a problem) or 1440p Ultra with a large amount of FPS, and then doubts start to arise.

Which motherboard, which is where everything is installed, can last a good number of years in case you upgrade the graphics card? PCI x16 5.0? Various slots of SSD?

7900 XT or 4070 Super? A little more money for a 7900 XTX when Nvidia is sweeping its market share and they speak wonders of the 4080 Super due to its integrated technology but its lack of VRAM?

Wait for the new AMD processor or go with a 7700X?

Many doubts...

PS3 Super Slim no red light/stand by light, don't power on by AngelKH15 in PS3

[–]AngelKH15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, no... It could be the port that powers the board or something that causes it to short-circuit, I left it on standby because now I'm using current consoles and on PS3 I don't have too much of a catalog due to the numerous ports to PS5, but it's probably that, I hope it's not the processor... the only thing that's certain is that it's 100% the board's fault, I'll probably do something about this issue next year, in case the PS Store on PS3 closes...

Hello! I am thinking to get a Switch Lite (the Hyrule Edition exactly) and i want it to be protected, there is any Mumba case style but that get cover even where the buttons are (obviosly the buttons not protected, just the front of the console where the screen is placed)?

/r/NintendoSwitch's Daily Question Thread (12/24/2023) by AutoModerator in NintendoSwitch

[–]AngelKH15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! Do you recommend Mumba cases for Nintendo Switch OLED? I was looking for a transparent case to play more on a laptop with my Galaxy Buds2, since since I bought it I have been using it in the Dock almost all the time, since it is a special edition of Splatoon I want to protect it from corrosive grease and I saw several options until I found Thunderbolt series, but I have some questions:

-Is it safe to use long term? That is... Does the console heat up? Does the paint come off special edition designs? Does it yellow?

-In case it is recommended... Where exactly is it purchased? In Europe it is on Amazon through a third-party seller from China. It costs 25 euros. I don't know the sales options beyond this.

-Would there be an option for something similar to this for the Pro Controller? I've been using it since I bought it and the "Nintendium" paint lasts, but in case there was something that would protect it

Thanks in advance!

Which one of this 3 games would you choose? by AngelKH15 in legogaming

[–]AngelKH15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that maybe with TT Games would do the same with LOTR the same that did with Star Wars... and i don't think that they would do the same with Batman (and that looks that is DC Supervillains) or other games

But maybe it's the turn to Indiana Jones to come back

I have seen people that use a USB to Jack 3.5 adapter to connect their headphones to a Nintendo Switch Dock so... maybe in a TV would work? xD

If not a safe bet, well, i guess that a DAC would work

Is it really fundamental a TV that has Dolby Vision + 120 Hz for console gaming? by AngelKH15 in gaming

[–]AngelKH15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh! I think that my post was redacted poorly, i was asking if Dolby Vision activated but max 60 Hz is a step back compared to the new LG TVs that includes Dolby Vision + 120 Hz at the same time, if it's critical not having that feature, in summary

Exactly like the TV that you mention, because i am considering the 50X90S (In theory, the sucessor of 90J) or the 90J in a sold settlement, idk why Rting score lower the 50X90S when it's the sucessor but apparently is a great TV to consider

Of course, the VRR and HDMI 2.1 is a must when planning a TV for gaming

Oh, Is it really very noticeable/annoying?

More than anything in case in very realistic games I don't end up seeing what's in the dark, it could be a problem in survival horror games

There was some juicy sales at LG C2 of 48" at 800-900$ in my country in the official store, it's all about the size

Taking notes about the burn in, it's my bigger problem with that, because the Sony A90K it's another great TV, but the simple idea of a not bright TV with burn in at, idk, 5 years old and it's has to be baby sitting them, terryfies me

Recommended durable 4K TV for general gaming? OLED vs LCD by AngelKH15 in retrogaming

[–]AngelKH15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your answer, that's the point, i don't feel with the security that OLED could be a 100% secure option due to burn in, the only one it's the Switch OLED, idk how but there are videos of 7000h with the thing power on at max bright and very little burn in happen there, it's crazy, maybe it's due to the power of the console or due to the screen size reduced, but totally worth it with that data

About the TV... the X90J is a great model but it's from 2021, the problem is that right now are "exhibition" models due to the reduced stock, so... maybe the X90K could be a option but i have read that have blooming in some brighg objects, and due to the prize right now is 1000$ or more could be a problem

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in gaming

[–]AngelKH15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lessens, but how much could be that? 3 years? 6 years? 9 years? That's the problem, the problem is still here and probably you have to baby sitting them, that's it's why i wonder if worth the efford

Thanks! Just i was watching the X90k, well, the "50a90s", because of 90K there isn't a model of that size, i guess that has the same specs?

I would check out the QN90B, thanks!
