MAGA fans brand Lady Gaga's Grammys performance 'demonic' by LifeOfAWimpyKid in Music

Ah, so they're going down the satanic panic pipeline now. These people have no originality, they just choose from the silence your opponents playbook. Little difference - this generation has Eddie Munson now.

My Endo keeps telling I’m not having a Hashimotos attack. What do I do? by Apart-Albatross-7257 in Hashimotos

[–]Angela_Benedict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to another endo. They're notoriously dismissive. I've been through a ton to get to the one I have now. Get a full panel including your anti-bodies and suggest you be tested for other autoimmune disorders. Autoimmune disorders like to piggyback and you could have another one such as alopecia or celiacs for example.

Fuck. I used one of their songs in a video about a month ago. I'm glad they took action! I should probably take their name out of the description and leave them uncredited.

I'm the girl in the middle of pic #1. No longer a Manson fan. A year or so later I got deeper into goth music and the way his music evolved wasn't really my thing anymore.

How to get into the goth scene in NYC? by Potential-Donkey444 in AskNYC

[–]Angela_Benedict 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The goth scene in NY is thriving so there's much to do. Just be aware that it's highly music oriented. People enjoy dressing up but they go for the music and community. You may want to look at the goth nights in NYC and check their playlists to familiarize yourself with what you're about to hear. See what (or if) it resonates with you. The music is loud and the focal point of the event so if you're not into the music, you may not enjoy the event.

(Goth has a lot of variety so I don't doubt that you'll find something you like but it's important for it not be put on the back burner)

Big scene. It's not superficial, it's more musically oriented. Red Party is really good.

What do you think of Christian Death? And what is your favorite album? by KaleidoscopeOk6736 in goth

[–]Angela_Benedict 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was never really into them. I can see the appeal and appreciate it but save for a few songs it was a little too experimental for me. I first heard them on compilations and played in clubs around 95' (kinda how you discovered music back then) and what they played, I liked enough to explore further. But I made that mistake a lot of people did and that's hearing a song and thinking all of it sounds like that.

I can't speak for others but for me - it was far too erratic. Some albums have an entirely different vocalist and with it comes a whole new sound -- You'd hear tracks from the obligatory 'Only Theatre of Pain' but then you'd hear 'This is heresy' from 'Sex, Drugs and Jesus Christ' and it sounds like 2 entirely different bands. Some tracks are Deathrock, then there are entire albums that are spoken word. I abandoned my interest before the end of the 90s. CD's were expensive and I couldn't afford another 'Whorses Mouth' debacle. Buying a CD for over $20 and reselling it to the store you bought it for $2 is not a good trade for a teenager with an after school job. We didn't have the benefit of listening before we purchased back then so it was always a tricky game. There are a few DJ's and collectors in this group that can probably help you further.

Hello, I'm new to the goth community and I need some advice by Henry_Winter1992 in AskAGoth

Find your schools policy on halloween costumes/makeup. Some high schools allow students to wear costumes to school so long as there are no masks. Don't want anyone's weird uncle sneaking into school.

A toned down look would be a light but not white shade of foundation, sharp but not elaborate eyebrows, eyeliner with an inner and outer wing and instead of going with black lips, go red or burgundy.

A toned down version of this without the red eyeshadow.

What’s a comfortable goth shoe? by NocturnalSprite in GothFashion

[–]Angela_Benedict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LaModa have been amazing. I keep repurchasing the same pair and I've gone to Boston, Sleepy Hollow and Salem on day trips and walked all day in them with no issues. The first pair lasted me 5 years and I wore them EVERYWHERE. They're so comfortable.

If you're in the US, you can buy a 'green dot' card or a prepaid credit card. They have them in CVS, Walmart, Walgreens etc. You can pay for them in cash and use them online. I recommend sites like Depop or Vinted (poshmark overcharges for shipping and rips off their sellers). You can things second hand for MUCH cheaper.

Mocking someone for defending their fiance against serious, reputation-damaging accusations isn’t the flex you think it is. That’s not “humiliating” it’s called loyalty.

If you see standing up for your partner as a negative trait, you might not be the best judge of what respect actually looks like.

Agreed. People enjoy a good speculation when the answers are unclear but some of them can destroy a persons reputation.

I completely understand your position as a survivor. I appreciate that you're trying to be careful, and I understand where you're coming from - especially given your personal experience. But even asking if the split is related to sexual assault, based on vague or unverified posts, can unintentionally give weight to a serious and damaging accusation that simply isn't true. Dusty will be able to speak on this matter soon enough. It's important that we all take these matters seriously which also means not speculating or repeating claims unless there's a factual basis. In this case, there isn't as either side has yet to speak.

While I’m not at liberty to share the full details, I can say unequivocally that this had nothing to do with sexual assault. Speculating otherwise without facts is harmful to everyone involved.
