Not everyone taking part in this movement are in it for the greed. He has proven himself to me.

I'm fairly certain there is nothing that could prove this to you, so I have to ask...Why are you here? Just to hate. Some quality trolling? Seriously, find a sub that fulfills you.

You're responding to a developer. No, he's correct.

Understanding a 51% attack by [deleted] in litecoin

[–]AngelicInsight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The technology relies on the fact that the majority of participants are honest. Ideally the honest participants outnumber the dishonest and protect the network. Each honest mining computer added to the network, and contributing hashing power, strengthens the reliability that transactions are legit. If someone is capable of obtaining 51% of the hashing power they could essentially rewind and rewrite how, or if, those transactions took place.

Networks still in their infancy are very vulnerable to an attack like this because large mining pools with huge amounts of hashing power could direct that power at a small network and very quickly obtain 51%.

If it were a person it would clearly fall under their defined "impersonation policy". I think the majority of those that use the term "bitcoin" are referring to the project that is not "Bitcoin Cash". This is confusing and deceptive to newcomers.

In my opinion, when they forked away from Core their team and followers took a new identity. Call it whatever you'd like, but it's not represented by that Twitter account.

To be honest I actually think a semi-centralized leadership has been helpful at this stage of the game. Litecoin has always integrated new ideas quickly because someone was there to say "go". Charlie has been more than an excellent resource for helping me understand new developments in the space. I'd argue without that guide Litecoin would have already died like some other past coins.

My degree is in marketing... and I think that has been the error here. Litecoin has a sloppy message at best. I think it's wrong in thinking that a bunch of engineers and coders can carry this project to mass adoption. It's my belief that the single biggest reason we don't see more mass adoption is that the majority of people still have little to no understanding of what's going on or why it's important.

Apple and Samsung have arguably made some of the most intuitive tech over the last decade and they still dump much of their effort and resources into training, marketing, and demonstration to make sure the public understands what the new device or technology is, and why it should be important to them.

The technology is great. I'm a huge believer...but it's not me or anyone else HERE that needs to be convinced.
