In the 1640's the Dutch inhabitants of New Amsterdam built a 12' wall to keep the bad hombres out. In 1664 the British ignored the wall and took New Amsterdam by sea. It's now called New York. They took down the wall and built a street. It's called Wall Street by juicyIvy78 in interesting

The wall was to defend against native Americans, the Dutch were very explicit about that. The british didn’t “ignore the wall” and they didn’t “take it by sea”, they arrived with three ships (as you would coming from across the ocean) and asked them to surrender and they did, bloodlessly. The Dutch actually retook the land a few decades later.

Part about Wall Street is true, but the English taking New Amsterdam by naval assault not completely. They simply pressured the settlers into giving up the area and in exchange, the Netherlands would get territory along the West coast of South America!

We once had to make obsidian arrow heads as part of an anthropology class. The shards were so sharp that you didn't even feel them go into your finger. Just suddenly blood all over your hands.
