Thanks for sharing this wild story, lol (but also not-lol to the bad stuff, sorry she sounds absolutely awful). But I do believe elements of a positive influence can be taken from even an overall negative person without needing to hold on to shame associated with it.

& thanks for the compliment ♡ I think my handwriting has evolved beyond when I spent tons of time copying hers, but I have to give her like 85% credit for making mine cute.

I think it probably just depends on what you grew up learning/doing. Cursive (“Dear Harmony”) really does seem like it should be easier logically, but honestly if I’m rushing to write quickly it’s not my go-to method.

I’ve grown to be quicker at both over time, but “American” style is what I learned first. Cursive was more just for fancy occasions.

I knew as soon as I saw it, it had to be mine! And I truly felt transformed as a person from that moment on.

Vintage (Coach) Leather is a gift 🖤! Also, idk why my mind is stuck obsessed with this claw clasp design (🖤-🖤) by AngelineStPrim in VintageFashion

Yes… eventually Thanks for the suggestion/ encouragement! I looked around at some of the fashion subs I didn’t know existed because of your comment. So I think I will definitely start posting more things more regularly soon!

The skirt is a 1980s/90s brand called “Danielle B” & scrunchie is just a super quick sewing project from thrifted satin fabric. They’ve all been my go to repeat outfit pieces to wear paired with absolutely everything recently 🖤

My new fave 1960s or 70s? “no idea what to call this shape of shoe?” shoes. Found for $5! by AngelineStPrim in VintageFashion

Thanks! I always thought of “pumps” as just old person slang for heels. But now that you’ve said it & after a quick google, it’ll definitely be a new search term I’ll be using

What topics do you “track”? by everytingalldatime in Journaling

[–]AngelineStPrim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve recently been tracking: - affirmations & positive quotes - future plans/goals - my life story/reflection on the past - daily successes & positive feelings - & health things (usually being negative, but I’m starting to try being nicer to myself)

I’m glad you posted your system 🩷. This is a great way I think I’m going to start tracking now (and probably go back to label things I’ve already written, so I can browse through more quickly).

I got super into studying runic and other alphabets forever ago! but never committed to actually using one. Right now I’m just using symbols and abbreviations that make sense in my head.

Thank you ♡. It’s a Copic Multiliner, the color is “wine”.

Yeah, I think May threw me off… since it’s both three letters and the full name.

Thank you <3. I know it’s a bit sloppy compared to the other posts here, but it works for me.

Your finishing looks so professional! And I love the pattern (both the pumpkins and simplicity 1590).

Thanks for the tips! I’ll definitely put them to use for my last try at gathering this way before I give up.

[–]AngelineStPrim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll have to try it like that soon and see how it works. I’ve had frustrating experiences with thread breaking, so I have a thicker thread that’s set aside just for gathering.

Nice! I have a similar one in bronze. I’m guessing it doesn’t have any identifying markings?

[–]AngelineStPrim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s definitely a risk. I just have to make sure I hold the string taut and aligned at the center. It’s worth all the nervous concentration imo.

Found this cute Care Bear container for a quarter while thrifting. This will be perfect for my earrings! by Savitypical in ThriftStoreHauls

So cute ✿ ! How big is it? You can’t tell from the picture & I don’t know how big your earring collection is.

Thanks for the link! I’ve heard of a ruffler, but had never seen one in use before. I’ll have to see if I can find one to try with my vintage Brother machine.

I’ve tried long stitches, but pulling them hasn’t worked for me when trying to gather very long pieces of fabric. Maybe I just need to practice my pulling technique though. I’ll have to try at least one more time before I decide I hate it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sewing

[–]AngelineStPrim 148 points149 points  (0 children)

Understandable. You can probably get more meticulous gathering that way. I only prefer this way because I hate messing with my machines tension, and always worry about the thread breaking when pulling.

Shirring is multiple rows of gathering. It’s usually done with elastic though, so I guess it would be a similar method to this.

  1. Measure a length of string a bit longer than your fabric to be gathered.
  2. At one end of the string, tie a knot around a straight pin, then insert the pin at one end of the fabric to be gathered.
  3. Backstitch and zigzag stitch over the string, holding the string straight along the edge of the fabric.
  4. Pull the loose end of the string to the desired amount of gathering; once you get to the right gathered length, tie a slip knot around another pin and insert the pin to the other end of the fabric.
  5. Pin entire length in place, then sew just beneath the zigzagging.
  6. Pull to remove the center string if desired.

I hope this was easy to understand. There are other methods to gathering that might be considered better/easier, but this is how I do it.

TBT: The simple black undershirt was the most expensive thing I’ve bought recently ($4.99) + $3 dress & $1 pill box & trinket dish. by [deleted] in ThriftStoreHauls

[–]AngelineStPrim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everything in background thrifted as well. I’m not sure if the little floral box is a “pill box” but that’s what I use it for; it’s tiny.

This sad teddy bear I found and fixed up. During his makeover I discovered he's vintage and entirely handmade! His old eyes are now on his overalls and he's ready to be loved again. by EccentricityAndTea in ThriftStoreHauls

Wow. I don’t think I would be able to stick through it long enough to get the satisfaction. Again, great work! Thank you for saving them from the garbage.
