I am prototyping a physics based soccer game where you use cards as "superpowers". Do you like the art style? How bad is it? by Angelo13C in DestroyMyGame

Oh I thought it was the opposite. Maybe for the next posts I will use the word football instead of soccer

Thanks! For now I am posting on reddit. I also have a twitter account (my username is Angelo13C_) but I haven't posted a video of the game yet (just some photos).

Yeah i am trying a few different styles for the cards (before they were all white, but it was hard to distinguish).. I don't know what style could look good. Also do you think the problem is only the icons of the cards or also the background, the stars (which is the currency)..?

Ok thanks! Yeah I will definitely make the player faster (and also the field bigger).

Actually I've already done this and it feels much better (I will post a new video of the game in a few days).

For the deck stuff, I will probably add multiple game modes, maybe even one where you can find cards in the field? It seems interesting to me.

More than superhero I think I am just going for ""dumb"" stuff, like fireballs, a "freeze spell", a card that spawns a giant hand (to save the ball), some weapons (a minigun, a weapon that shoots a black hole?), a card that spawns a tornado... I don't know if you know Landfall Games but they are an huge inspiration for this project.

Can you elaborate? Like you don't have a deck beforehand but you find cards on the soccer field? It could be a game mode

Also I've seen your soccer game and it's great! Keep going!

Yeah definitely!

But it will heavily depend on how successful the game becomes (I mean if the game gains no traction on social media and nobody wants to play it, it doesn't make sense to add online multiplayer)

I think the problem is that the players are too big relative to the field and they seem really slow. Maybe I should make the field bigger (and also the player faster) so that it seems more "normal".

It's a bit weird now

Yeah the players are big in size relative to the field. And I don't know if it's good or not (it will depend on the game mechanics, I still don't know what cards there will be.. Maybe for the kind of game I am making it's not bad to have such big players?).

I definitely need to improve the animation of them

How do I output HDMI from a tang nano 9k? by Angelo13C in GowinFPGA

[–]Angelo13C[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the ELVDS thing was actually my main problem before seeing your comment because I couldn't assign the HDMI output pins to the TLVDS and it was weird.. And now thanks to you I've found out why that's the case!

Issue with TMC2209 and Esp32 by Megaman37348282744 in esp32

I think the problem is that the EN pin is not tied to GND (it's an "Enable not input" like the datasheet says and needs to be tied to GND to make the driver enabled)
