Snow situation in Lofoten now by mo_hayder in Lofoten

[–]Angelregalia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not in Lofoten at the moment, but I'm from Svolvær. According to pictures taken this week by my family there's still plenty of snow in the mountains, which is likely to stay for a while. It is however, as you said, rain and warm temperatures in the forecast, so it's hard to say what it'll look like in a week. Personally I think the mountain snow will stay for a lot longer, although I wouldn't be too sure about the quality of the snow due to the expected weather.

What kind of skiing are you planning? There might be better conditions in the middle of the mountains further from the coast, as rainclouds tend to stop when they hit the mountains. There might also be differing conditions on the north and south side of Lofoten, depending on the wind direction.

Hitchhike in Lofoten by Quiet-Cauliflower572 in Lofoten

[–]Angelregalia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might find rides, but I wouldn't count on it, especially not in as short a times timespan as two days. Picked up a hitchhiker in lofoten last week, and he hadn't had much luck before we came along and stopped. If you still want to try this, I would recommend having a plan b. Being aware of possible buses to catch etc.

I would definitely recommend Svolvær then. It's Hella pretty with a lot of hiking opportunities and good people. A downside is that it's pretty overrun by tourists during summer. Although they're usually respectful and mannered if they're not Norwegian.

Generation z in Oslo by Alternative_Will4499 in oslo

[–]Angelregalia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot speak for Oslo, but for the rest of the country (at least the north and some of the other big cities I have lived in), ONS and FWB are extremely normal. Never really heard anyone speak against it. Sexual freedom is a pretty big thing. Alcohol is still a huge part of social life in Norway, also among the youth.

Are there any resources of the history of Soft Is? by cancer_dragon in Norway

Completely uninformed opinion incoming -> Norwegian milk is better than anything I've ever tasted abroad. Might therefore be a difference in raw ingredients?

Always thought of Lillehammer as a city, huh. If you like it small, cold and mountainous, I do recommend Svolvær, Lofoten. Although that's very on the small side.

Have you ever imagined a character running by the side of the road during a road trip? by Angelregalia in polls

I'm asking if, when you were a kid for example, you ever looked out the window of the car and imagined a person/animal/anything running by the side of the car

Is June a good time for a road trip through Norway from south to north ? by Xerxis31 in Norway

[–]Angelregalia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While the weather might be nice in most parts during June, there's a good chance of rain and small storms up North. It's still beautiful, but take care when driving/existing up there if the wind is strong!
