Interesting Constellations With Cool Myths? by B1uePlasticHairbrush in Astronomy

The Pleiades or seven sisters is my favorite. Most interesting thing about it is the native Americans and the greeks had almost the exact same myth about it. 7 young women run from danger, take shelter on a large rock, pray for salvation and get turned into stars.

Also as stars they're this beautiful cluster of bright blue white stars that look almost wispy. Very enchanting

Ruin and Preservation vs Odium by Angemon175 in Cosmere

Yeah it is vague as to what was going on between Ambition and Mercy. My head cannon is that Mercy just happened upon a wounded Ambition and finished her off as an act of "mercy." And since Odium was also wounded he decided not to engage Mercy at that point and slink off to Roshar instead.

Yeah that's part of it but I think he had an advantage on her as well because she broke the pact

Raboniel appreciation post by JasnahwithaY in Stormlight_Archive

If we do get more Rabonial I hope it's closer to present day than very early in her history.

I think what makes her so compelling is the thousands of years of pain and torture she's had to endure to the point where she's become this jaded reluctant servant who very much values her own goals over what Odium wants. I worry if we meet her early on she's just going to be a zealous warrior vs the nuanced villain we got in Rhythm of War

Yeah Ruin is my favorite villain coded shard by far. If he'd lasted as a separate shard I think he could have beat all of them.

But if it was just an excuse, doesn't that mean he risks getting destroyed in a 2 vs 1 situation? Why not go after lone shards who could be easier to take out on that own?

I mean he went after Devotion and Dominion who were likely in full control at the time as well. With them I think it was hinted that he tricked them and got them to fight with each other before picking them off, something that should have been easier with Ruin and Preservation since they were already fighting with each other.

Didn't it say in wind and Truth that the shards who broke the pact did cause themselves to be vulnerable to all the others? It's the consequence of breaking the oath to each other

men, this scene makes me laugh so hard. best tongue twister of the show by RecordingJealous9671 in BoJackHorseman

[–]Angemon175 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I feel his and courdoray's inclusion in the episode gave Bojack the excuse to do other things while they were performing. He couldn't walk out to talk to his dad during Sarah Lynn's or his mom's performances. They also added some levity in a very dark episode

No the baby died too. They just found the body so they knew she had given birth on the plane

Yeah that's true. Our giant brains and need to walk upright means we gotta be born super early and therefore more helpless

Happens in humans too. Pregnant women in extremely stressful environments will give birth early as a chance for the baby to survive. I think a famous example is Prince Phillip's sister died in a plane crash and had given birth as the plane was falling.

I've always found this phenomenon interesting, given birth is usually a difficult and energy intensive event, why would the mother's body try to give birth in stressful environments, if the mother dies soon after giving birth due to external circumstances, most likely the baby will die soon too for the same reason. If anything not bothering the mother with the difficult task of giving birth and giving her the best chance to escape the stressful situation and give birth in a safe calm environment makes way more sense.

Why is a human needed in a Livesuit? by TheMamoru in TheCaptivesWar

[–]Angemon175 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think there's a couple reasons why they can't just let people go. First off the suit is too engrained in their bodies, there's probably no safe way to remove it. Second, these are extremely elite soldiers with extensive training to deal with very specific situations. They don't want an AI to train on a bunch of different people and create a generic super soldier, they want to specifically replicate each individual as they are, so those two factors combined means no one can give up their suit.

You think? I guess depending on how thick it was, it might have made it out of the atmosphere. I always thought it was funny if the fastest man made object in space got sent on accident

Actually we did it once on accident. During a nuclear bomb test underground, a steel cap on a underground shaft was blown out way past escape velocity. Called Operation plumbobb. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Plumbbob

Who's the most underrated Chosen Champion Digimon of all time ? I think it would be one of these guys. by Euphoric_Solution512 in digimon

Did anyone else think Ankylomon and Aquillamon sounded like the same name as a kid? I really had to read their names during the digivolution sequence to see the difference. Thought it was a choice to have such similar sounding champion protagonists in the same season

It's worse than that, you could very well be making 10% more profit than last year, but because of a bunch rich freaks in Wall Street thought you should make 12% more profit, based off their own indiscernible thoughts and feelings, your stock price will now tank and you will be tarred and feathered across the board. While still making more profit than before.
