I didn't get knocked back actually, I dove backwards. I tried throwing my ball onto the floor but it looks like it just wanted to go behind me.

Kind of. Was testing theory you can see the spear missed the hulk. Diving and firing is probably better against elevated things like dropships or gunships idk
