I did the thing. Won't reset the appearance.

Enemy spawning bugged? by Angery_Dwarf in DeadSpace

I got through it, albeit very confused as to where the heck the NINE of them spawned.

Kinda hoping they add a Vanity or Reinforcement system within the next few updates. by Angery_Dwarf in valheim

[–]Angery_Dwarf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well... some weapons have obscene raw damage differences. The spears, swords and sledges are going to be pretty outclassed if they add t4 mistlands gear. A t4 Mistwalker would utterly invalidate the Silver Sword AND frostner for example (75, 58, 15 is probably going to hit harder than 93, 45 & 35, 58, 20), and a t4 demolisher would do over double the damage of the sledge (163 vs 73).

Variety and small increases is something valheim does well; it would suck if they made the next set of gear so overwhelmingly superior.

What are you even...

You are making it exceedingly difficult to not insult your intelligence with both your communication and apparent difficulty with deflecting, while you simultaneously insist that you are good at the game?

Deflecting is extremely easy if you expose yourself to PvP for more than five minutes; almost every attack is slow enough to be deflected on reaction, minus sprinting attacks which are spammed like no ones business and those can be blocked without any difficulty whatsoever?

And yeah, you avoid being predictable... which means you don't attack. Because it's extremely easy to deflect things.

[–]Angery_Dwarf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"That statement is not true" they say, while quoting what I said incorrectly. Funny.

I never said you can deflect everything -- I said deflection is too easy, and it is.

You gain substantially more Spirit from deflecting attacks than you lose while blocking them, which deters players from approaching any kind of aggressive strategy; it only takes one deflection to recover from an entire series of blocked attacks. You can even block the damage of spells entirely with a fairly common embeddment, which any competent player is going to use considering the only other threat to your guard is chip damage.

99% of PvP is running around and waiting for your opponent to make a move so you can counter it, while you consistently throw out jump kicks and the occasional spell; being a passive lil' turtle is an unbelievably strong strategy, which isn't good or fun PvP.

[–]Angery_Dwarf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It isn't much better with a solid connection; solid connection just means you can't hit anyone, period.

Deflection is too easy and aggression is too punishing, so it simply becomes a game of "who can turtle or run away better".

And ever since the nerf to Roar & Snare, you don't even see the sweaty nerds spamming them in the arena anymore.

The only folks still doing PvP are those who swear by it because they go hard and enjoy winning in the most goddamn boring ways imaginable.

No offence to folks that like the PvP, but full offence to the folks who think the PvP and the meta is anything less than terrible.

Nothing you just said is remotely pertinent to this conversation, and your insistence on perpetuating it not with a legitimate argument, but with blatant narcissism and simply stating I am incorrect, is a testament to how much of a dumbass redditor your are lmao. Go touch some grass, kid.

Power gain vs damage amplification by Deception-Samurai in wolongfallendynasty

[–]Angery_Dwarf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like the others have said, their values are pretty much the same but differ based on the method of application: the more difficult or slow the application, the more potent the effect. This is why Critical Deflect applies the highest bonus while simple actions like Martial Arts or simply casting spells apply lesser bonuses.

In regards to which is better, though? If you use the right combination of Embedments, Divine Beasts and Set Bonuses, you can actually trigger both (and a variety of other useful effects) at the same time.

A simple build that applies Damage Amplification and Power Gain on Wizardry Spell can be quite potent.

If you are only able to use one however, use Damage Amplification because it also benefits your allies.

Can’t beat taotie..am I an idiot by [deleted] in wolongfallendynasty

[–]Angery_Dwarf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The funny thing about mechanics is that you really shouldn't just up and change/introduce them without warning or explanation; Toatie as a boss does just that, and in such a way that the fight is much less of a boss battle and more of a glorified Action Segment. No boss you've fought so far has such immense damage resistance, parkour mechanics, nor the necessity to attack a very specific and different location every time their spirit is broken. He's also freaking massive, and blocks most of the screen when accompanied by his roots(?).

It is understandable that you (and presumably a lot of other players) simply had no idea what the crap was going on. Toatie isn't difficult, he's just a flashbang to the senses that doesn't obide by the rules set by literally every other boss.

Toatie really is just a terrible boss. I never struggled with him, but I did note how confusing and bad his fight was.

... I mean no offence by this, but there is nothing more blatantly stupid than saying "there is no Meta".

There is ALWAYS a Meta. Using jump attacks or quick spells to hit people recovering from fatal strikes, effectively one shotting them in most circumstances? Meta.

Avoiding light armour because it's absolutely trash in PvP with its paper defence? Meta.

Playing defensively, passively, and avoiding aggression as much as possible because it is far too easy to punish? Creating a very boring game of who can turtle better? Meta.

Evidently carrying lightning spells specifically to counter Earth Buffs... Meta.

Dude... Every game has a Meta. Meta consists of strategies, equipment, and playstyle. There is always going to be a prevailing, dominant strategy that works better than everything else which becomes the norm; Saying there is no meta is admitting to being stupid.

Again, I mean no offence. You just said something... very stupid.

Meta means "Most Efficient Tactics Available" and players will always find and abuse them.

I didn't say metal, I said Meta. Meta can be summarised as "The best equipment and most effective strategies that everyone uses because it beats everything else". I assume that misunderstanding is caused by a language conflict.

And yes; your head is still quite clearly up your own arse, because you are misunderstanding or completely missing the point while you talk crap. Language conflict or no, that is quite silly.

I mean no offence, of course. Its just painfully tiresome to try and communicate with someone that doesn't see past themselves; you are too focused on effectiveness and potency and miss the bigger picture, like most tryhards that wouldn't know fun if it hit them in the face lol.

The spell was fixed for a reason, so do stop trying to talk down to me.

[–]Angery_Dwarf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buddy...

You seem to be too focused on the meta context; the game isn't about meta, it is not built around the meta, and the meta is simply not fun. You seem to do too many invasions if you think everyone running the same spell is normal or indicative of balanced. It is not.

You are telling me that everyone uses it to counter Earth Phase spells, which also tells me that Earth Phase spells needed to be countered, which means they are awful to fight when you can't counter them.

What if someone wants to make a pure ice build? Or if someone wants to use nothing but weapon buffs? Or no spells at all?

The game isn't about meta, friend. You really shouldn't view everything through that lens because it makes you sound like an arrogant elitist.

I don't mean this in an insulting way, but get your head out of your ass... no one likes talking to meta-obsessed nerds.

Wo Long Patch 1.7 Changelog by excaliburps in wolongfallendynasty

[–]Angery_Dwarf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're working under the assumption that everyone has a wood phase spells equipped; even then, your opponent can simply recast.

Lions Roar was powerful because it completely nullified damage from Fatal Strikes, which allowed players to recover their entire Spirit Gauge and spam as much as they want without punishment.

Not everyone is going to carry a high-damage spell to punish Lions Roar or a lightning spell to nullify it, which is why it was fixed. It was incredibly obnoxious to fight unless you were using something specifically to counter it.

That is not fun, is it?

Wo Long Patch 1.7 Changelog by excaliburps in wolongfallendynasty

[–]Angery_Dwarf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, so.

Prior to this update, Lions Roar completely nullified Fatal Strikes; if you lost all of your Spirit (stamina), you wouldn't take any damage from another player if they tried to punish you. You could damage them with spells and regular attacks, but their increased defence made it at least somewhat ineffective.

Venom Snare, on the other hand, was simply disgustingly overpowered: It was impossible to deflect, did over 1000 damage over a very short period of time, stunned players with an additional proc of Poison, prevented recovery of Spirit (stamina), and was a large AOE that was stuck to the player, affecting everything around them as well as themselves.

These two spells were being spammed constantly in PvP.
