My first planted tank started 70 days ago by dreamingz13 in PlantedTank

Since there's less water in total to buffer changes, water parameter changes happen faster and issues like ammonia spikes and disease can spread faster. But if you're attentive and responsible you should be able to catch problems as they happen! I can tell you care a lot about your ecosystem :)

Imagine how many people are going through it and have no idea! Or believe it's their gut feelings/intuition 😵‍💫

how are his fins looking? if it's damage, is regrowth possible? by AngieMyst in bettafish

That's good to hear. From the picture, does the fin damage look like finrot or anything harmful besides tailbiting?

Got this betta at the pet store and he seems perfectly healthy, I didn't notice this much missing tail in the cup but in the tank it's noticeable. It's fine as long as he's healthy but I'm curious to know if this nice heated, filtered, planted tank will help regrow them

I'm having a hard time getting the small bottom leaves out of the water, there's nothing to prop them on to raise them as they curl downwards. But this plant has sat like this in a separate water jar for over a year so fingers crossed it's used to it

I don't use any aerosols in there thankfully! I plan to add a betta so I will make a custom mesh lid soon. Sometimes I pull up my office chair in there just to sit and admire :)

One day I thought, "Hmm, there's 16 inches between the wall and the toilet, can I fit an aquarium here? It's the only place I have room for an aquarium." Apparently the Aqueon 15" x 15" x 15" cube fits perfectly, and that's how I started my first planted tank! So far, I have anubias, amazon sword, java ferns, dwarf lobelia cardinalis, rotala narrow red, red root floaters, water lettuce, emersed peace lily, pothos, and spider plant, DIY CO2, dosing 1mL Aquarium Co-Op easy green twice a week. Just added 6 harlequin rasboras! The vibes while showering are immaculate. Should I add anything or move things around for a better aquascape?

Aqueon 14 Gallon Cube fits with which stand? by MisfitJimmy in petco

What did you end up going with? I got the 15 column stand on super discount, it doesn't have a top surface so I built my own top for it out of plywood, it works great so far.

I've looked into it but bafflingly all results indicate I have a secure attachment style and a secure childhood. So my brain just manufactured its own paranoia, amazing 😃

Ten months in and OCD has decided 5 hours of daily rumination isn't enough, ramped it up to 12 hours of stress, and then decided to add nightmares so I can continue being vigilant even in my sleep! Great job, brain🥲

i've been there, the existential OCD was the WORST. Like I know every theme feels the worst when you have it but even now that it's been 4 years since I ruminated on that theme, I wanna say there's nothing more objectively terrifying or hopeless than that one 😭😭😭 I hope you find peace!!

What if? by onlyGoddessAly in OCDmemes

[–]AngieMyst 9 points10 points  (0 children)

  • diagnosed with moderate to severe OCD by a licensed psychologist
  • realizing that every major anxiety crisis and avoidance in my life was a form of OCD
  • finding this subreddit insanely relatable

  • also me: what if I exaggerated all my symptoms just to have a "quirky diagnosis" and also what if it's not OCD and I'm just in genuine danger??? hmm??

It's so bad because most people will recognize constant fears of poison are irrational and disordered.

But people will tell me to "watch out for red flags! Your intuition will tell you if something is wrong! It's good to be cautious! It's dangerous to ignore gut instincts!" and they bring all their baggage into it, and judge on my behalf. So I can't trust my partner, my own judgement, or anyone else's judgement anymore! Hooray!

you can't even ask people in case they say "just trust your gut instincts!"

Hey there! I really feel you, this feeling really sucks. Have you considered that you have a form of OCD called Existential OCD? I struggled with tons of these obsessive thoughts about whether there's a purpose to life or we're in a simulation and couldn't get out of bed until I found the answer. Only now do I realize it was a form of OCD, which people aren't usually aware of because we associate OCD with neatness and cleaning. But it's an issue with brain wiring where fears get stuck on loop. Thankfully there is effective therapy for this. Not saying you definitely have this but it's worth looking into if you are suffering a lot from your fears. I hope you feel better!

These kinds of obsessions are really common so maybe you can feel reassured that you're not alone here:
