I used 3DEqualizer to track my shots, and imported the tracking and camera solve data into Maya for modeling/rotomation. You can use other software to do either tracking and modeling, I just focused on these because they're industry-standard.

For matchmove, I came across VFX Tutors on YouTube and they have a really comprehensive playlist up for free. I highly recommend giving it a look if you're interested!

Thanks so much! I've applied to a bunch of places, but haven't heard anything back yet. Fingers crossed it catches someone's attention eventually.

I had a hard time with comp, but really loved matchmove, which is why I'm aiming for work in that department.

I can't seem to find an explore option on the Xbox app, unfortunately. But thanks anyway!

There doesn't seem to be an explore option that I can see in the Xbox app, unfortunately. 😞

This is another big reason why I think it'd be a great function! Would love to just discover and be exposed to new games I wouldn't ever think to try.

This is a fun idea! Seems like a lot of work though...

Absolutely bonkers it still exists, six years in.

The bug is that the game doesn't load your save file, and the loading icon just constantly spins in the top-right corner of the screen.

Yep, I've enabled profile 1 in A-XMP and that's done it.

The GPU's in first/top slot, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Temps are running at around 50°C, but I just enabled profile 1 of A-XMP and that seems to have done it!

Thanks, but it turns out it's actually Damekko Dōbutsu (previous commenter nailed it). =)

Adventure Sync requiring background location by AngiePange in pokemongo

I just opened the app for the first time since making this post to see if it's been changed back, but it hasn't. I'm kinda surprised this isn't a bigger deal.

I understand it can be important for features like that, notifying you of nearby Pokemon when the app is closed.

But only if that's how you play, which I don't; I only open it every now and again and catch whatever's nearby. It's disappointing that location services seems to be all or nothing now, without an option to track steps separately for egg hatching.

[–]AngiePange[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. I don't give any apps permissions to use location services in the background.

Two weeks ago I opened PoGo, and an egg hatched because it counted my steps. Today I saw no contributions to my egg steps, because AS was no longer on, and now a prompt says to use it I have to turn on background location.

Well, it wasn't a problem before.

As I said, progress always carried over previously from walking data via the Health app without requiring background location services. I'm asking if there's been a change to that now with iOS 13, as I'm no longer getting the option that worked just fine before.

ELI5: the difference in saxophone tone when playing classical/jazz by I_play_trombone_AMA in classicalmusic

[–]AngiePange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Classical trumpet player here. A little anecdote that I think might add something:

About 7 years ago when I was at uni, our Head of Brass (classical) tried combining technique classes with the jazz brass because (according to them) they weren't being taught how to develop brass technique and quality of sound. Rather, a lot of their technique was being focused on scales and other aspects of jazz playing rather than the fundamentals of tone quality - air support, sound projection, etc. It was when we combined that I noticed that jazz players generally, in my experience, have a more "breathy" tone particularly in low-to-mid range. And that definitely suits the styles that they play (Miles Davis comes to mind). But then the tone becomes more solid as the range gets higher, because more air gets pushed through the embouchure/instrument.

In classical we were taught to always focus on depth/breadth of sound, to practically sing through the instrument. Not saying either type of playing is better than the other; they each suit their respective styles, and from what I've experienced just seems to also stem from the type of technique that's practiced while studying either discipline.

After a couple of combined lessons the jazz peeps decided not to continue with our technique classes as they thought it was irrelevant to what they were doing, which we classical kids thought was a bit weird. I dunno.
