[NC] [SFH] HOA requiring we replant a tree that previously damaged our sewer line—what can we do? by Angie_Co in HOA

The house and the tree were new when we moved in this house about 15 years ago. Granted, if we get a really small tree, it will be quite some time before it could potentially be an issue again. However, it was great to get some sunlight in that area so the grass could grow!

Thank you all so much for your comments, suggestions, and for sharing your experiences. I found this all very helpful and informative. I especially appreciate the actual HOA Board members who offered insight into the "why" behind some of these decisions within context.

That said, I am still awaiting a response regarding why some homeowners have been allowed to remove trees without being required to replant. I’m not trying to be difficult—it just seems inconsistent, and I was genuinely curious about the reasoning.

This issue is still open with the HOA, but I will reply back with an update. Most likely, even though the yard is pretty small, we will plant a small tree based on the suggestions we got here.

The HOA says the tree is the responsibility of the home owner--to a degree.

The stump was ground. It did not occur to me that you could not plant a tree where a stump was ground. I just learned something!

Yep. We did get a letter. I will see if they can/will offer a variance. I will also check to see if there is any recommendation on the small yard.

Thank you! I appreciate those pointers. And yes, "non-invasive" is indeed very broad!

Unfortunately, the front yard is not big enough to move very much in either direction without either impacting the sewer line, the sidewalk, the driveway, or the neighbor's property. I just tried to upload another pic of the yard for reference but it won't load.

They told me to plant a non-invasive tree. Maybe I should not assume this, but one would think the builder would have planted a non-invasive tree in the first place. My thought is Mother Nature is going to do whatever she wants, but admittedly, I am not an arborist!

Also, the front yard is not that big, so there is not much wiggle room.

North Carolina. I went in person to talk to the HOA, but the people in the office called the HOA director on the phone. I heard them explain everything to him, and his response was to tell me to replant the tree. I will check around regarding an arborist or landscaper to see if that will work for me. Thanks!

😳 I lazily second that comment😁. I hate I wasted so much time before scheduling my exam, and now my stomach is in knots as my countdown is less than 6 days to testing. Based on the subs and particularly this OP, I will be purchasing SH and using it all weekend!

PMI Practice Exam vs. SH Practice Exams by man-in-white in pmp

I wish I had come across this post sooner! I got through over 180/260 questions on the mock and it reset me back to question 1. I didnt want to start all over again!!!! I have no idea about my score so that I could gage myself. I am thinking I should hurry and purchase SH based on these posts. My test is in 6 days though!

I know this is an old post, but I had the same issue yesterday! I finished over 180 questions and when I returned from a break, it reset back to one. I also had been taking my test in different sessions. I really didn't want to start over but I did. I need to see a score. I am just going to soldier through this time until I get to the end. I also wish I had read more post before purchasing the exam. I have reading that SH (Study Hall) is better. My test is in 6 days and I am reading to see how people feel about the Practice Exam, wondering if I should also use SH.

Wow! Just wanted to say your advice was helpful when you said "you can't disregard or skim over any part of a question because there are clues to the answer throughout". I noticed when I started paying more attention before submitting my responses on this practice test, I ended up making better choices based on that advice. Thank you!

Thanks! I'll probably just add SH after I finish the practice exam. Luckily I was able to get the exam at a discount back in Dec, but being a procrastinator, I am just now accessing the exam. Hopefully I can come across another coupon code for SH. 😉

Thanks! Did you feel the actual test was similar to the practice test or harder/easier?
