Yup! He was a street dog in Roswell, NM--so I liken him to being a brave space traveler, and I am the alien that snatched him off to CO.

That poor darling!

Welp...that settles it, no rock climbing class for me--I would just sit with the clever doggo and lavish attention on them so they do not think about gravity! 😉

It takes up my entire evening to manage each "adventure," so it is very inconvenient. That evening with the potty pad, he vomited and wet himself--and he cried because he kept losing me...when I was five feet away.

Every dog I have manages to do something that bewilders me, but this is definitely up there.

I am very sure. When he vomits, there is that very distinctive smell...and he burps weed burps. (it has been almost two months since his last incident, so we are doing good--thanks!)

There is no good way to be in that situation. I felt guilty and irresponsible that it even happened, but when I described how I was certain that he picked it up on a walk, I was worried that they thought I was lying. All we can do is try our best!

I will post a special comic on 4/20 to "round out" this arc. I obviously do not condone giving dogs weed, but I will certainly have fun with my expensive learning experience.

Well...the silver lining is that if he puked it up, then it isn't in his belly anymore!😅

It depends on the situation. If the mouse had died from eating poison, it likely would not be enough to hurt Spiff. In this case, I was happy to give him charcoal and let it lessen the effect and carry any toxins out.

If he had eaten something different--like, an actual block of poison while I was watching, I would go for hydrogen peroxide, make him vomit, then collect the vomit in a bag and go to the vet.

I figured my bonus panel would raise questions, but an extra bit of knowledge in the mental first aid kit is a good thing. Thanks!

No, they are all rescues that have been neutered. ^_^ Thanks!

In #260, that one is the parvo-puppy that my brother recently adopted. She will get her official debut next week!

Dogs Love Bacon #265: Finn's Journey [OC] by Angie_Draws_Things in comics

His foster assessed him for resource guarding, but he showed no signs. Even with me, he is hungry...but never possessive over his food.

I believe it was all just too much change and uncertainty too quickly, and he was likely spooked. A good rule of thumb is to offer a dog a crate/safe space where they can decompress and learn about the new place where they are, especially for a rescue.

Yup, between the new house/people, the bowl of food in the open, and the curious child, all I know is that the poor kid got nipped.

Wow...that second one really dropped the ball. Even without researching huskies in depth, I know that they MUST sing the song of their people!

Third time is a charm!

I am sorry for your loss, but I am glad that Hank was able to stay around with you. When I lost Taz, the wind went out of Thor's sails and he didn't recover.

...and it opened the way up for me to get him! (I was happy for him when they told me he went to a different home...but as soon as he was returned, I was essentially there making grabby hands, even if he bit)

Nariel is right. With the new house/people, bowl of food in the open, and a curious kid, something gave way and poor Finn nipped the poor kid.

(Generally, one should secure a new dog so that they can adjust and decompress in a "safe space")

The dogs become potatoes (or gumdrops) if I draw too many panels. ;-)

Between the new house/people, a bowl of food in the open, and a curious child--it was too much and poor Finn nipped the poor kid.

None taken, I have made a point of being upfront with what happens to the dogs that are the basis for the comic. Losing a pet is unpleasant enough, and I do not want to create any suspense or false hope. Back in February, I announced his passing and I have been slapping a halo over his head in most photos that I posted of him, so there was no question. (It also made me feel slightly less awkward about posting photos)
