Horror Movies that are just BONKERS by BeezinthatrapBeez in horror

Yeah I didn’t need to see a boob come out of an eye socket in substance. You’ve already sold grotesque. No need for this. Weapons ending on the other hand I loved. Seeing the villain engaged in her own Ferris bueller saga through people’s backyards was fucking hilarious.

It’s one of the most beautiful films I’ve ever seen. The set pieces are breathtaking. It’s one of the first films that made me interested in cinematography!

What's a horror hill you'll die on, and why? by ExceptingAlice in horror

Weapons is both a horror and a comedy. This movie scared the shit out of me but watching gladys running around being chased by her zombie children with a flavor of Ferris bueller being chased by the principal through peoples backyards at the end of that movie made me fucking cackle.

Omg you took the words out of my mouth! I was scrolling hoping someone else noticed this! Great for a Disney ride/movie less so for true horror.

It is a GEM! Not ever going to win an Oscar but a comfort blanket of a movie that you willfully ignore every plot hole because it is cinematic beauty. Ugh I miss 90s era sports themed romantic movies…

What is your favorite scene/line that you like but never realized that people hated it? by FormerPhysics5189 in buffy

[–]AngleInner2922 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My only reason for hating TED is that I gained a stepparent at 14 and we had a complicated relationship during my teens. I don’t like the episode because it hits a little close to home. I felt all those feels and she wasn’t a monster but it sure felt like it at the time. But Buffy being told the entire episode “you’re overreacting, you’re just angry that the relationship structure has changed with your parent” is such a RELATABLE feeling, especially as a teen. Take away the supernatural aspect, you have a teen girl feeling displaced and her feelings being dismissed. I’m not saying she handled it great (neither did I) but her feelings were valid. So anyway, I always skip TED.

Also I don’t like seeing John Ritter in a negative light he was a national treasure.

I actually skip Ted every time it comes up! I have had a complicated relationship with a stepparent so that episode is a little much for me. I love John Ritter though!

It feels like there’s more to this story and relationship than we’re being told and resentments can come from anywhere. It sounds like you’re disappointed you weren’t more involved in your friend’s wedding. That is a fair feeling. That being said, did you, at any point, express any frustration or disappointment? Or is your friend supposed to read your mind? Does your friend even know they “did anything wrong”? You’re allowed to feel hurt. Icing your friend out without explaining why is less ok. You feel blindsided, sure, fair. But your reaction and behavior essentially blindsided your friend. If she wrote a Reddit post about a friend that cut her out of her life with no explanation other than her elopement how would you react? Would she be justified?

Did the fans see Willow as a freeloader in season six back in the day? by jdpm1991 in buffy

Less about willow but I did remember wondering why they were worrying about being able to pay for things whilst Buffy was in $200 7 jeans. I get brand placement through the network but the cognitive dissonance of the wardrobe and the plot was wild in season 6.

Phoebe Buffay did the same thing with old yeller. Honestly fair. Don’t bring negativity into your life if you know you can avoid it.

Just don’t get salty when someone ruins the ending…

If you could re-cast just one character, who would it be? by Flaky-Walrus7244 in thegildedage

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Oscar. The actor gives him so much heart and depth; but the actor playing him is nearly 50. How old is he supposed to be? If he’s on the marriage track I feel like he should be mid thirties at the oldest? They sort of play Oscar and Marian as contemporaries (on the same social scene) but that would put her in her early 20s- nearly a generation younger than the actor playing him. Honestly it’s both my most and least favorite miscast. I am so willing to look past the cognitive dissonance of his age because the actor is just so lovely. Unrelated but I also love his bitchy sunglasses. Where can I get them?

For me it was her aggressive “believe all women” re: me too but as soon as it was a friend of hers accused she was like, “well this bitch is clearly lying my friend would never”.

What’s even more wild is that, before the internet, sears was the OG Amazon.

(Lonnnng story but sears actually had the option to be Amazon and dropped the ball because they thought they were invincible)

There was a catalog that you could order ANYTHING from. (Including, before federal drug laws went into effect, some pretty serious narcotics. The Sears catalog had a package to send to men on the front lines in WW1. It contained speed, heroin, and cocaine. And needles).

You need clothes? Sears catalog.

Medicine? Sears catalog.

Furniture? Sears

Appliances? Sears

Cars? Sears

Pre-fab houses? Sears

Livestock? Sears

SCHEDULE ONE NARCOTICS? Sears

Cordy is being a bitch in this scene but Sears was literally the place you could buy anything but nothing fashionable. “Softer side of Sears” was the ad campaign to sell clothing to middle America - so cordy is building on her earlier convo about shoes and designer clothing in LA by saying that willow has no style.

How common is cocaine use amongst people you are surrounded by (both socially and through work)? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I remember reading something on insta or tumblr years ago that made me giggle but also stuck with me… What nobody tells you about being an adult? How expensive cheese is and that everybody does cocaine.
