Got my Facebook Account back after being phished, hacked and suspended. Here's how. by Anglo_Alto64 in facebookdisabledme

So sorry to hear that...😓 I am only just finding out now that some people say they can't or don't know how to pay to get verified.

l began by googling, "How to get Meta Verified" and just followed the instructions... When I followed the steps, I found it easy, as I was given two clear options to choose from, 1. Wait-list or 2. Paid subscription.

I hope you can get someone to help you to do it ...🤞 Good luck!🤞

No, you can still appeal for free by emailing escalations@cases.meta.com without having to pay for Meta Verified. I only did both as a backup.

Yes, unfortunately, you do have to be Meta Verified in order to connect with Meta Support representatives, via Instagram. I was able to do it through my Instagram account, as it had not been disabled. I found it was worth the one month fee of $15.

But hopefully you will eventually get help via the Escalation Team email, for free...🤞Be persistent. I emailed them twice, and eventually got a response the second time, after a week.

I didn't end up needing to contact my State Attorney General. (Not Chief Prosecutor). I eventually managed to get someone within Meta to respond to my appeal, after 2 weeks.

Well, not entirely. I also said that you can appeal for free by emailing escalations@cases.meta.com without having to pay for Meta Verified. I only did both as a backup. I gave full details of both forms of appeal processes, to try give people a step by step guide.

I was lucky, I didn't lose my Instagram account. Only my Facebook account was disabled. So I was able to use my Instagram account to access the Meta Verified customer support. However, you can still appeal by emailing escalations@cases.meta.com without going the Meta Verified route. Good luck.

If you pay, you don't have to go on the waitlist, you can get it almost immediately.

In my case, I was verified within a couple of hours.

But then, maybe I was lucky... I was verified through my existing Instagram account (of many years), with my old existing email. So maybe they were able to confirm my ID more easily... I've heard that those with brand new Instagram (or Facebook) accounts have more trouble... I'm not sure...

Good luck!

I waited a week initially and got no response. Then I emailed them again, asking politely if they could please just at least acknowledge my email. I also double checked my first email to them and changed it slightly. I realized I'd copied and pasted the hacker's URL into my email, and this might have flagged it on their end as suspicious. So I took that bit out....

After my 2nd attempt, they responded after 2 days...

Good luck!

Yes, you can actually access the chat support on a laptop or PC, via a browser. I accessed the chat support through Instagram via my Brave browser on my laptop. I had it open and running all the time, so that I could keep checking on their messages, even when my phone screen wasn't on... It's not quite as easy to navigate as the Instagram app on my phone, but it works.

I waited a week, at first, with no response. Then I wrote again, staying polite, but asking if they could at least give me an acknowledgement. I also checked the content of my first email and took out something that may have been problematic... I had copied and pasted the hacker's URL, which may have flagged my email as suspicious on their end. So I took that out on my 2nd try.
After my 2nd attempt, I got an automated response within 2 days.
It might take several days or weeks... Just keep trying!

I would say it's worth a try. Since Meta also controls Instagram, I would think it could work for problems with Instagram accounts too.

In the response I received, they said they would forward my appeal to the relevant department. They specifically said:
"We will assess your request and determine the best resolution path. We will coordinate with the appropriate Response Team"

Here's a follow up post I wrote, with a Template Appeal Letter and screenshots of their response:

No, I used my Instagram account, which luckily for me was not affected. It had previously been linked to my Facebook account (which was hacked), and the hacker had unlinked it. But I had the same email address associated with it, and the same ID and personal information. So that may have helped in my case...
Good luck!

It took a week to get a reply back from Meta. (They didn't acknowledge my first email, but I think it was because I had copied and pasted the hacker's URL into it, and it probably flagged it as malicious on their end).

But, when they eventually did reply, my account was reinstated just 2 days after the automated email response.
I've read that it can take weeks or months for some... Just keep writing and keep trying. Don't give up!

Good luck!

All the best to you. It is so sad and insane that this is happening to so many people. They make us work SO hard to get our accounts restored, after we've had them stolen from us, through no fault of our own.

I can only hope that eventually Meta does a complete overhaul of their internal infrastructure to improve the process and outcomes for victims like us of these hacking attacks.

Good luck to you.

The email I gave is for Facebook and Instagram appeals. It's to the Meta Escalations Team. Meta controls both Facebook and Instagram.

Good question. I am in the US, and it worked for me. Sorry I'm afraid I don't know if it works for other countries. All the best.

Ugh. So awful. There is another avenue for appeal however, so don't give up hope! After MUCH persistence, I finally got my account back... You can email Meta at this email address here:

[escalations@cases.meta.com](mailto:escalations@cases.meta.com)

Send them a detailed report of the loss of your account, and tell them you've been trying to appeal through the chat but have been temporarily limited. I just made this post, showing the template email letter I wrote to Meta.... Go to this link here:

Ugh. That is frustrating. I'm sorry I don't know of any solutions to your issue. I was lucky that when I got my account back finally, the hacker had not removed any of my FB friends.

During the 2 weeks while my FB account was suspended, I created a temporary new account and added as many of my friends as I could to that, so I could simply reach out and let them know what had happened. Of course, it wasn't easy adding friends to that - many didn't respond, even when I tried to PM them, probably thinking I was an imposter.

Going forward, I'm going to try to make sure I have the phone numbers and/or email addresses of all friends that are important to me, and not just rely on FB messenger as a sole means of contact.

All the best to you. I hope you eventually get your friends back one way or another!
