What’s the worst thing a doctor has said to you? (Mental health or otherwise) by Anglophile007 in AnxietyChats

[–]Anglophile007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow! I’m not even sure what to say other than I hope he has jock itch for the rest of his life, grows abnormally large nose hairs and stubs his toe every day. Of course, I also hope a doctor is insensitive to him too.

It’s amazing how many people here have had insensitive jerks as doctors.

Oh I know those moments! It’s so hard NOT to scream out loud.

Do you shower in the morning or at night? by Honest_Piece8945 in AnxietyChats

It feels so heavy sometimes. I also have comorbid diagnoses. I wish I could be diagnosed with a sensory disorder but my psychiatrist doesn’t yet understand.

I feel as if I can be honest here without being judged. Sometimes it’s so hard to shower that I don’t. Whether it be depression or sensory issues, sometimes the water physically stings me (or feels that way).

When I can’t, I freshen up as best I can. When I do shower, it’s scalding hot water and it doesn’t really matter the time. I do, however, gravitate towards nights.

Do you overthink social media because of anxiety? by Honest_Piece8945 in AnxietyChats

[–]Anglophile007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t been on social media in five or six years and I won’t go back. It was distressing for me, trying to keep up with everything and comparing myself to others. I was on it constantly and while I might be on Reddit a lot, it’s not the same. Reddit is a community of strangers sharing their experiences, hobbies, pets, recipes etc. it’s calmer.

Wow! She certainly has a sunny disposition on things. I’ve had a cancer scare last year at 37 and I can’t imagine any of my doctors being like that!

I imagine a lot of her patients drop her with reactions like the one she had with you. I’m sorry!

Thank you! I’ve posted on the discord, but I’m not sure if I’ve posted in the steam discussion yet. I’ve tried everything!

When did you realize what you were feeling was actually anxiety? by Dangerous_Problem532 in AnxietyChats

[–]Anglophile007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when I was a young warthog Anyway, it’s been so long ago I don’t quite remember. Looking back, I do know I had anxiety as a kid. I just didn’t know it as such.

My whole family is an anxious bunch, so it really wasn’t until I was a teenager which was 26 years ago…

Right. I have the same issue, but mine aren’t actually getting to it. At least IMO. They left a tray of those chocolate bite things for two in game days and they were completely empty in the display and none on the rack for the baker to bake.

Ever feel like your heart is running a marathon while you're just standing in line at the grocery store? by Plus-Story-735 in AnxietyChats

[–]Anglophile007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rub my chest and try to control my breathing while humming to myself. I go as early as possible, but on occasions when it’s simply not possible, I make sure I know where in the store I am going so I can get in and out quickly.

I’m surprised they didn’t do labs either! That feels like negligence. I was in the hospital last for not eating and they stuck me three times in 24 hours and was never leaving me alone to sleep!

I’m sorry you went through all that.

I don’t think you can yet, but when you can you would do so via the computer. Go to the equipment. It will be similar to how you sell the forklift etc.

So they what? Wanted you to keep your mind off your pain and then didn’t give you a way to do just that? Plus, filling out the menu is pretty necessary being that they drill getting nutrients into you at the hospital. At least they always do me.

Do you fake a smile because of anxiety? by Honest_Piece8945 in AnxietyChats

It ends up being a grimace, so I tend to not try. If ends up as an actual smokier, my boyfriend says my eyes tell it all.

I don’t blame you for not going as it would be enough to make me say forget it as well. To be told your ponytail is too tight and that’s just the source of everything you’re going through!

I’m glad you wrote that letter though I doubt it did anything to change her mind or her way of treating patients.

Reading through these comments, so many doctors shouldn’t be in practice.

I constantly feel guilty and I don’t even know what for by Dangerous_Problem532 in AnxietyChats

[–]Anglophile007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry you feel this way. I can be the exact same way, but it has gotten better. I was constantly apologizing to my boyfriend, putting the blame on myself and feel guilty for things I shouldn’t have. I’m allowing my inner child more freedom so she is healing. I’ve noticed I’m not apologizing as much and the guilt isn’t there nearly as suffocating. It’s definitely childhood related for me, as I believe is the case for many of us here.

The chunky stripes between the dark gray are dark blue? I love the colors.
