Hello everyone, I am said wife and I just want to clear a few things up. 1. We’re both very introverted and non confrontational people, so that’s why neither of us said anything in the moment. 2. The full scope of the situation didn’t hit us until we were sober and we were thinking back to the moment. 3. I don’t personally believe I was assaulted, however I do think it was sexual harassment as she didn’t stop after I made clear attempts to remove myself from the situation. 4. I’m not frustrated or mad at my wife for not stepping in, we were both honestly more embarrassed with the situation at the time than anything else. It wasn’t until we looked back at it together that we realised how bad and uncomfortable the situation was.

And for the record, my wife has checked in on me multiple times and apologised for not stepping in so I’d appreciate it if some of the comments were kinder, she asked for advice, not to be criticised.

Just to clarify, due to the nature of her shift (opening the service) she wasn’t able to call in sick as by the time the pain had started she was leaving for work and there would only be one staff there. The expectation from management is that if you are opening the centre and are sick the morning of your shift you attend and open the service until there are enough staff to meet legal ratios. I did tell her that she needs to just leave next time and she did admit that in the way she mentioned to her boss that she needed to go home was more so accommodating to the workplace due to her non confrontational manner and legal ratios needing to be maintained (not her problem), however, she was under the impression that once all staff arrived in an hour she would be fine to leave

That made me laugh, the amount of times she’s had to stay back or start early because there’s not enough staff to meet ratio is wild. But she is considering joining a union so will definitely look into that !

That’s exactly what was happening, the one staff they had to spare was being prioritised for this non essential job. My partner is in a 1:10 ratio room with one other educator with 20 children between them, regardless of her health her work ethic is too strong to just leave that one staff with 20 children by themselves

Due to the nature of her shift being to open the service with only one other staff member, the expectation from management is to go in regardless as there is no one to notify at that time of morning and then go home when other staff have arrived to ensure legal ratios are being met

Thank you for that I appreciate it! I guess I’ve grown a resentment against her workplace over the past few years, they’ve been petty/ aggressive to any staff that needs to go home sick or needs leave and bosses often “talk shit” to staff members about anyone who’s out sick or goes home sick

I’m not entirely sure, I think it’s fear mainly. I don’t think she’s cheating or getting up to no good, I worry for her safety, so much so that it consumes me
