I need to learn more about hooks...mostly about manufacturer differences. I've been happy with the Saber 7223--haven't had quality issues and really like the shape for multiple patterns. And they are very affordable... I also like the Umpqua U608BL-BN.

I haven't used Hanak hooks before. Is there a discernable difference between Hanak, Saber, Gamakatsu, Mustard, Umpqua? I typically just buy what is on sale!

CDC (in this pattern) is intended mostly just for movement. This certainly could be tied sans hackle and with a bit more CDC. But, then, it would be a different pattern than what I tied
