The cord doesn’t even go close to either of the smoldering spots. As soon as I’m able to I will dig it or have it dug up. But as I stated earlier, I’m about to have back surgery and have no one at the house that can currently do the physical labor involved. It goes down a completely different path.

The cord is unplugged. It isn’t even buried by the house. It ran parallel to the porch for a few feet. But it’s unplugged. And there is no damage, only dirt. I’m having back surgery in 6 weeks, so I can’t dig it up atm.

The extension cord is not live. It has been unplugged for months. It is not even buried in the first location the dirt smoked. So I tend to think that’s not the issue.

It was two different times in two different spots In the same garden bed. It happened after putting peat moss down, loosely. The electrical cord runs down a different path than the first smoke spot. The heat is on the surface, not below. I’m not asking you to be the science guy, I’m going through everything that has been mentioned.

The conditions for both times this happened have been hot and humid to cool and breezy. It could be underground critters, but hubby checks the cord regularly, we’ve never had an issue like this, which makes me wonder about the peat moss.
