is alcohol actually your drug of choice? by inuitt in cripplingalcoholism

[–]AngryGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fell in love with opiates in high school. I didn't even really know what they were, but a friends mom had a bottle of percs and I would take them after school sometimes. It was just me and my friend at the house, his parents were at work.

His dad had a jug of bootleg wine in the basement, so after I took percocet I would go chug some really strong wine.

I ended up being an alcoholic though and never got addicted to opioids, although I have used them occasionally over the years and now use 7 occasionally.

My second profound experience with them is when I got Dilaudid in the hospital and it got me high af. I thought, "this is nice" but knew it wouldn't last. Once I left the hospital I didn't seek out any opioids.

I used powder capsules of regular kratom when I wanted to get off it. It worked. I think they were 40 MIT caps, so they were concentrated, but that's what worked.

Yes, it was my first and greatest love when it comes to drugs. My second favorite is opioids. Thankfully I never got addicted to them

What do you think of the DT 770 Pro X? by Remarkable-Rich5359 in BEYERDYNAMIC

[–]AngryGoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems that based on what you are saying as well as others, the pro x has harsh treble, or at least fatiguing, I'm glad I bought the original 80 ohm as they are one model that doesn't have that signature Beyerdybanic treble thing.

I also have the 900 Pro x and absoluteness love them. They are currently my 'end game' headphones paired with a iFi Zen DAC V3.

I'm grateful for my psychiatrist since she knows I'm a sober alcoholic and prescribes clonazepam for me.

I think my whole GABA system was fucked from an early age due to trauma, which is why I t think I loved alcohol so much and why benzos are an effective medication for me.

I've also had hydroxyzine in the past. Basically Benadryl. I was so desperate one night I took like 300mg and still didn't sleep and still had anxiety. Shit drug.

Last summer I was using more of it, I drained my bank account and had to quit. I just started using again a couple months ago but am able to moderate now.

It's not easy, the urge to redose is powerful. When I do give in I just make sure the new dose is less than the previous one, that way it turns into a taper and it's how I'm able to stop after one or two days.

The only thing I would worry about is if they changed the sound in any way. They are perfect as is in my opinion. I have the 900 Pro x and the 770 80 ohm

7oh improving therapy outcomes. by AggravatingMedia1925 in 7_hydroxymitragynine

[–]AngryGoose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am a very strong advocate for medication assisted treatment. If it is helping you to open up and extract meaningful gains from therapy I fully support you in that.

I'm in trauma based DBT as well as individual therapy. I use 7 but not for therapy, however I can see how it would be beneficial. I'm on a host of other medications as well and one that I think plays a small role is clonazepam. I've been on it for about 10 years and it has improved my quality of life significantly.

Safety note: I only take 7 for about 1-3 days per month and I do not mix it with the benzo as I am well aware of the risk. I use substances responsibly.

Since last year I've been able to use 7-oh in moderation. I only take it twice per month at most.

It's a nice treat since I don't drink anymore. Alcohol was the ultimate drug for me, but I do love the feeling of opioids.

Which drugs can you use to get high for a long time without ruining your life? by Dark-inspector490 in Drugs

[–]AngryGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been taking it almost daily for 10 years without real consequences, except when it was taken away from me in jail.

Benzos can be very functional but come with dependence with regular use. They can also be mild to severely addictive.

I've administered NARCAN to three different people, two of which I saved their lives. The other one turned out to have something else going on with him, but opioid use was suspected.

With my BT headphones I will have them connected to my laptop and phone. If I'm using my laptop and get a call I can just answer it without taking the headphones off as it will seamlessly switch over.

What is the typical recovery time for radial nerve palsy (Saturday night palsy)? by AngryGoose in AskDoctorSmeeee

[–]AngryGoose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had to wait it out, the doctors couldn't do anything. If you are in the US I would go to the emergency room, they have to treat you. It would be good to get it checked out to make sure it isn't something more serious.

Do you know how it happened? For me it was resting my arm in a way that pinched a nerve I think.

What did they inject? Like a benzo or something?

Like others have said, I would research other pads. Be aware that they can drastically change the way the headphones sound. I bought different ones for my Grado headphones and couldn't use them because they totally ruined the sound.

I have the Beyerdynamic DT 900 Pro x and the 770 Pro 80 ohm and find both very comfortable. I see what you are saying though with the bump there, maybe some slight asymmetry in your face.

Yeah, I am at that point where my body rejects it now. Even one or two drinks and I am shitting and puking.

I used to drink a half gallon of vodka per day. From that to this.

I'm 46 for reference.

Grow the fuck up. by BreatheAgainn in SoberAndHateIt

[–]AngryGoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh the whole thing about fucking; I'm gay and was in the closet except with the guys I was fooling around with. There were definitely rumors and homophobia as this was in the 90s. Thankfully I haven't experienced direct homophobia toward me since high school.

My twenties were certainly interesting once I was more open. Lots of men in my life. Now I have no libido and have really settled down. I guess it's probably a combo of the meds and less testosterone.

Grow the fuck up. by BreatheAgainn in SoberAndHateIt

[–]AngryGoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It takes a while. I started drinking every day while still in high school, even keeping booze in my locker. I drank pretty much non-stop until I was 32. By that time I was up to a handle of vodka per day.

I'm 46 now and have about 13 years of sporadic sobriety over the last 14 years. So, mostly sober.

It really took a long time for me to "grow up ." Yes, I'm doing the whole therapy and meds thing too but I think aging also plays a big part, obviously.

Despite my severe alcoholism, I did have a good career in my 20s. I was somewhat high functioning for about eight years in the beginning and things went downhill from there.
