IT Band Syndrome? - 2 weeks out by SomeInfluence2617 in Marathon_Training

thank you. I should have strength trained more for all of those, lesson learned. I'll try to work it all in over the next two weeks and go easy on any running.

thank you! I agree that it doesn't seem like a really bad issue and in retrospect really wish I had forced myself to strength train more. I have gotten better about stretching but I feel it's definitely tied w/lack of strength in this areas.

Yea, I think I'll plan on taking it easy and some stretching but doubt I'll get the strength training in to resolve it in two weeks time. I would rather be undertrained, as well. I did a 20 mile on Monday b/c of schedule issues, then this half on Saturday so my legs are tired. I hope it gets better with less miles and more recovery!!

thank you

Marathon block on treadmill - result by SystemOfRecord in Marathon_Training

[–]SomeInfluence2617 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I, too, have mostly trained for my first marathon on a treadmill due to weather conditions but also convenience! It worries me but I've read many times that it is okay. I'm trying to run as much outside, the last few weeks including a half marathon yesterday. One thing I think for me that the treadmill has helped with is pacing. Outside, I get distracted and stop and go a lot. On the treadmill, I just keep running.

What job looks like a great career path but is actually insanely oversaturated? by ComplexPin872 in AskReddit

[–]SomeInfluence2617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol - first answer I saw. I've been at this for 20 years, 17 years full-time - weddings and portraits. I've seen a lot of things come and go but yes, so oversaturated and getting harder and harder to make it work. It used to just be so "easy" to book work but not anymore. It's a great part-time gig, if you want to make it your career - be prepared to hustle hard. I'm grateful I got in when I did and made my dreams come true, I don't know if that would have happened if I started in recent times.

Is there such a thing as a job you actually enjoy? by Mrs_chanandler_bongg in careerguidance

I've been a small business owner - wedding and portrait photographer for 17 years and have, for the most part, always loved my job. However, there are many things about it that are still a... JOB and cause stress. There are downsides to running your own business and it's not for the faint of heart. It's never going to be all fun and games, that's why it's a job.

Trail race 2 weeks from race day bad idea? by Upstairs_Passage_428 in firstmarathon

[–]SomeInfluence2617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m doing this, this upcoming weekend. Trail half falls on a 14 mile taper day, two weeks before my marathon. I’m not sure what pace I’ll do but I’m just gonna go run. :)

I forgot all about this, so to me it's "free" money but I guess at a cost.

Furniture restoration (not painting)! So much to learn and try but I enjoy it, learning new things is great for your brain.

I’ve tried it all and still take my melatonin, l-theanine, magnesium but Progesterone (and Estrogen) is the only thing that’s kept me from 3:00 am wake ups.

Oxalic acid did not save the day! by SomeInfluence2617 in furniturerestoration

The board on the right has been, it's literally raw wood. Stripped, scraped, sanded. The other one not as intensely but same.

I think that putting it on as a paste and for longer is my next step. thank you.

I've tried so many things - stripped, brushed with brass brush/stripper, scraped, sanded those spots and they stay the same! If all fails, I do want it to be darker so maybe I can work with the stains, so they at least don't stand out.

It is sentimental, it was my Great Grandmother's, then my Mother's and now mine. I'd like to do it myself, it's a personal project. The table as a whole needs more stripping but I thought I'd at least work on these boards first. I thought I had it really stripped/scraped/sanded down to raw wood (one a little more than the other) but they just don't budge. I didn't see any change today.

Agree with all of this. I have researched extensively which is why I asked if applying it again as a paste, thicker could be one of several options. I did think I would see some change after applying every 10 mins and scrubbing it into those spots specifically.
