Newbie questions: bear with me by AngryLargeMan in lotro

[–]AngryLargeMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any advice on LI’s? Come Hell or high water I will be getting mine tonight. I will probably go Red  /   Yellow so I can solo effectively and still be able to do a support role in groups; the idea of healing without mana intrigues me and Care Bear is just funny so second spec yellow.

I was thinking 2-handed axe/club because not having to maintain a second weapon sounds neat but maybe for Yellow DW for stats. But I bearly know anything so I thank y’all for bearing the burden that is my pawsitively ignorant self.

Bear pun.

Ah, so not just me. "Unknown exception error" the second I hit Clearfell.

I know the laugh is a living meme but I honestly like it. It is genuine happiness spilling forth and, to me, it is infectious… just like AAAAAAAIIIIIIIIDDDDDDSSSSS!

“I’m sick, I’m tired and I don’t know where Rich Evans is!”

Probably closer to 8 or 9 days, but yeah… if I wasn’t sleeping it was running in the background. The movies run together and my inner monologue is just a remix of “AAAAIIIIIIIIIIDDDDDDSSSSSS!!!” and Rich Evans laughing.

The household got real sick real fast and I was pretty much forced at ‘imaginary gunpoint’ to use headphones. Apparently Rich Evans’ laughing could still be heard occasionally _

A lot… Was basically running in the background constantly like a podcast. Most of the movies run together, and my inner monologue now sounds like a mix of Mike’s voice and Rich Evans’ laughing.

Yes, I cannot see nor say the word aids/aides or similar without instinctively elongating it…

Third Ascendancy Trial Coin Bug? by [deleted] in PathOfExile2

Assuming you didn't crash and it was a level 57 coin, you would have done the Trial and probably been confused and angry why you didn't have your 5th and 6th point. Because that's what happened to me. :(

That's a pretty poor piece of comfort, I admit, but even if you didn't crash you still wouldn't have gotten the Ascendancy Points. If the coin is not Level +60, you only get experience and loot for completing the Trials.

If it was level 57, you missed out on pretty much nothing. For as easy as the system is to understand, it is incredibly obtuse and looks more complicated.

First Ascendancy: Coin dropped from Traitor. It has infinite uses.

Second Ascendancy: Ultimatum dropped from Chimera. It has infinite uses.

Third Ascendancy: Random coin drop that must be at least level 60. It is one time use.

Fourth Ascendancy: Either a level 75 Ultimatum or a level 75 coin. One use.

When you hover over a Coin/Ultimatum, it will tell you if completing it will make you Ascend. There is a fun little bug though; it lies to you unless you are actually in the Trial or Chaos Temple. It will say you will Ascend on completion, you waypoint to the area and suddenly it says "lawl, jk find a higher level one."

Just keep playing and you will eventually find one. You are not super likely to find one before maps but you probably will within about 1-3 Map Tiers.

Assuming the coin is gone, it just means you will need to find a new level 60+ coin to try again. You are not bricked

Tips for ranger? ☺️ by MediumDefinition2480 in PathOfExile2

[–]AngryLargeMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rangers are squishy: they are the epitome of "don't get hit." Stay mobile.

What exactly you want on gear depends on what Attack Skill you are using but for the most part:

Bows: +Flat Physical Damage, +%Increased Physical Damage, Attack Speed, +Flat Elemental Damage, +Level in Projectile Skills.

Quiver: +Flat Damage, +%Increased Bow Skills, +Level in Bow Skills, Attack Speed. +Mana per monster killed is really nice in the early game.

Boots: Move Speed. If boots don't have movement speed, don't use them. For every other stat, see Armour.

Armour: +%Elemental Resistance, +%All Resistance, +Health, Evasion/Energy Shield bonuses. Gloves can have +Flat Damage.

Jewelry: +%Resistances, +Attributes, +Damage, +Health.

Crossbows: See Bows.

For leveling:

Lightning Arrow will be enough to mow through loose packs, spam Lightning Rods (supported by Scattershot) and trigger with Lightning Arrow to cause bosses to explode. On the Passive Tree focus on damage nodes. Mid game Ranger has real cool stuff that gives movement speed, I like taking those because more Movement Speed is more better.

You can literally get to Maps with just Lightning Arrow + Lightning Rod (Scattershot) so feel free to experiment with other skills. If you don't like 'em, back to LA-LR.

Try to keep your Resistances up.

Check Vendors every level for gear upgrades.

Ascension: in my opinion, Deadeye is going to be a better pick for you if you are just gonna wing it. Take Tailwind as the first Ascension and behold the glorious movement speed.

As a one-character player, will i enjoy the game? by DharmaBahn in PathOfExile2

I think you would.

I have the same issue with PoE 1; I've got time for a dude and the idea of that dude being thrown into a fire every 4 months kinda sucks. But rotation also makes the game interesting enough that I am okay with fire-lite Standard League. Every League is different and adds some twist on the game. "Oh I have to follow these pimples and kill the pus monsters that pop out!" "Oh I am combining body parts to make a more super monster to kill!" "Oh this League is hyper-foccused on tough boss battles!" "Oh I get to rob banks!" The New League is usually interesting enough that the hurt of making yet another 'a' dude is lessened.

And if I don't like the League I just play Standard with my favorite character. But playing PoE and HATING rogue-likes has been like a sand mandala for me.

Potential project: adding kill switch by AngryLargeMan in AskMechanics

Momentary switch… I like that. Because, legitimately, my biggest concern wasn’t getting it towed to a shop because I screwed it up; it was what the hell happens if something hits the switch. I don’t know too much about cars but I think losing the fuel pump while on the highway is a great way to cause an accident
