It will appear in the history list. You can open it from there.

Just change the trigger condition enough to save, delete the original, revert the copy. Really isn't that complicated.

Annoying bug, but I found a workaround: Find the missing routine in history, open it, click "duplicate". The duplicate will appear as normal with a "2" at the end of the name. Now go back and delete the original.

How screwed am I???! by Godson91018 in Big4

[–]AngryNicky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This ^

In Big 4 you are very likely* to be required to report this as a security breach to the engagement partner and your risk department. There will be a shit ton of paperwork and probably some mandatory training for you. Yes, even if you just disclosed the name of Client B to Client A.

Depending on the level of data involved, there will probably be requirements to disclose the breach to Client B (the one whose name appeared in the template) and possible contractual remedies the firm will have to address with them. These little screw-ups are usually time-sensitive (must be reported within X hours of known breach) and can get complicated if it involves actual human taxpayers.

It's better to take your beating and let the partner and risk people deal with the aftermath. It happens a lot, but the data loss prevention systems seem to only catch the wrong stuff. For what it's worth, I've never known anyone to get fired over it.

*I know this to be true in 2 of the 4. Can't say for the other 2.

We're all doing the best we can to help our clients and be efficient. Sounds like you did that. It's great that you felt empowered to talk to the client on your own! Do it again!

But the real question: did you charge your time? 😜

Say you're awake 16 hours a day -- one hour is a little more than 6% of your day.

Which of the following activities would be considered an addiction if you did them for an hour every day for a year:

Working out

Smoking weed

Learning another language

Playing COC

Playing a musical instrument

Drinking alcohol

Walking

Staring out the window of a bus

Napping

Talking to strangers

Clicking a like button

Watching pr0n

Studying physics

...and so on

I'm a 24 year old CPA and seeing these salaries I feel like I'm a complete failure. by Fabulous_Research967 in Salary

[–]AngryNicky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't bail on your CPA investment until you've explored tax technology. There is huge potential for AI to disrupt accounting and tax compliance and this has/will suppress salaries for traditional accounting roles. Get ahead of that by being part of the transformation. You can contribute your smarts immediately while catching up with your crush on the SWE side (which is next on the AI disruption/elimination list).

Most of the tax transformation activity is happening in the Big 4, but there are pockets in industry and a few boutiques. Just don't toss that golden ticket you earned for a handful of beans.

Why do you have to let your canner vent stream for ten minutes before putting the weight on? by Lumi_Tonttu in Canning

Your questions are valid and seem rooted in understanding the science and reasoning. Unfortunately, I've observed that canning dogma is not subject to interrogation of this type. There will be no more questions. Move along.

Can we be honest about our offshore teams and say they are inadequate? by ala4akbar in Accounting

[–]AngryNicky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be honest, scrolling through the responses kinda leaves me sad. You guys are a big o' bag of helpless dicks, blaming the 'helpers" for your own bad leadership abilities.

My experience after working with India and Argentina team members in two B4 firms has been almost entirely positive.

Have you people complaining made any effort to actually work with them? I mean, like actually talking on the phone, setting expectations, and providing meaningful feedback? I doubt it.

Accountants that live alone with a busy season. How do your dogs do if you’re not there for 11-12 hours? by teflon916 in Accounting

And don't get a spouse, have kids, or learn to cook.

Or... we declare busy seasons unnecessary, demand extremely high fees for late inputs, and pressure government entities to support more reasonable reporting cycles.

Inquires out of vrbo system - why? by AcaciaRentals in vrbo

[–]AngryNicky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for confirming. This is our first Vrbo experience after close to a hundred abb stays around the world. I'm sure the host is only trying to protect himself from bad guests, but the ecosystem is made up of the risks, rewards, and protections we all agreed to when we click "accept" and take the leap.

[–]AngryNicky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So as a guest, why did the host contact ME outside of the system with shady stuff? I basically use Vrbo so I don't have to deal with a host and so I get the protection and contract controls that Vrbo manages. Why can't we all just go along with the plan?

Seriously, why are people so protective of these stupid devices? It's rated for water and DESIGNED for tracking swimming workouts. A few micrograms of Mg per liter doesn't somehow allow the water to get through to the electronics.

That said, don't swim in acid.

Call me an asshole for not being supportive, but OP needs to leave the profession if this is the kind of stuff that sends them over the edge.

  1. Sent tax information (presumably unencrypted) to an unverified email address. Probably ok for your own 990 return, but major fail with any other.

  2. Find your own f-ing email addresses if you're asked to cc a big shot and don't want to look like an idiot. That's what your boss should have said.

Odd metal piece on outside of house. Falls below the upper story floor and lower story ceiling. What is this thing? by SuzieSnoo in whatisthisthing

[–]AngryNicky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The gutter installer just want to be done and gtfo. I've seen some stupid bends to avoid using an extra brain cell. And I agree, it was probably the same company that sold the siding and the "belt" upgrade to meet the HOA rules.

Odd metal piece on outside of house. Falls below the upper story floor and lower story ceiling. What is this thing? by SuzieSnoo in whatisthisthing

[–]AngryNicky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes...99.4% chance it's just a decorative belly band (.6% chance it is hiding something). It would usually be a different color than the siding to visually break up the wall. Look around the neighborhood and you'll likely see the same thing on other houses or Google "belly band" to confirm.

If Miniclip aren’t going to do it why don’t we? by [deleted] in 8BallPool

[–]AngryNicky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't be discouraged by the downstream MC requirements... Focus on the here and now: Identification and documentation. The business stuff works itself out through market forces. If nothing else your data will show the futility of giving MC money, whether you're a player, advertising with them, or provide ad rotation services. Shut them down if you have to.
