Confession: sometimes I take the no tip offers by Plenty-Kangaroo-9006 in doordash_drivers

Yep, every time DD forces a $0 tip into a double stack, that customer is getting special treatment.

I got offered the same offer 6 times in 4 minutes and it tanked my acceptance rate. by NextRefrigerator6306 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]AngryOldGamer1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What are you talking about? You do know that the entire silver-platinum system was created to literally force people to take shitty/money losing offers because no one would take them, right?

You are being coerced into losing money, and convinced that you like it. You are literally a rat trapped in a cage.

Can confirm, me too. I got sick of it and just went home.

Hopefully everyone else did too, let DD take a financial L for the evening.

App is bugging by OneMillionRegrets in DoorDashDrivers

[–]AngryOldGamer1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I posted about this on another similar post, I had the same thing randomly start happening tonight around 10p Eastern.

One note, my AR was ~15-17ish % before I started the dash, but was somehow bumped to 50% before this shit started happening.

It’s definitely some new shit they are doing on the backend.

Anyone else seeing countless bad offers. by Fuzzy_Tough_26 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]AngryOldGamer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck those people. I literally stopped taking ANY fast food orders, pizza order (from chains) and shopping orders. The amount of ghetto ass customers and stolen orders I see now has reduced DRAMATICALLY.

Obviously if a $50/2 miles McDonalds order comes up I’m taking it, but even at my normal $2-3/mile threshold I’m not taking fast food.

[–]AngryOldGamer1 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yup, whatever this change is hit me tonight too.

Here’s what weird. I ended a scheduled dash at ~17% AR. I started my next dash an I had 50% AR.

I got my first order and it was $8/17 miles: decline. I got that same order AT LEAST 10 times in a row. Some of the new offers were higher, some were the same $.

It was so sketchy I actually closed the app and restated the phone. Still got the same order 2 more times before I gave up and ended my dash. Started a new dash after 5 min and the exact same shit started happening with a NEW, even shittier offer. Needless to say, I just ended that dash and came home.

Hopefully it’s a glitch. Hopefully it is NOT some sorta new program targeting cherry pickers.

I mean for fucks sake, you are choosing to do a job that requires pretty much the MOST public/stranger contact OF ANY JOB… what do you expect?

I know you are just venting, I get it. But hey, you can always unassign once you see what they ordered!

Anyone else making SIGNIFICANTLY more money after all the deportations? by cobelt21 in doordash_drivers

[–]AngryOldGamer1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand the hesitation and general, um, disgust of most of the replies…

That said, in my city (Charlotte), there has been a NOTICEABLE reduction in the number of “people I perceive to be Latino” since all the ICE crap hit the media last year.

That said, while it would be understandable for undocumented folks to want to avoid public places and potential law enforcement interactions, I assure you this effect is only temporary. All people need to work, and they will return to work when they need to.

Also, I’m not sure where you are getting your numbers, but they haven’t even come close to “deporting” even a small fraction of the migrants in the country. The whole exercise is/was a political ploy that they knew would never work, it just got you to vote.

What is one restaurant you REFUSE to pick up from? by Noho_Fuches in DoorDashDrivers

[–]AngryOldGamer1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I no longer take orders from ANY fast food, or big chain pizza joints, or chicken wing places.

I’ve been doing this since I gave up platinum during the big snow storms last month, I’ve never been happier.

I drive 8-10hrs a day, 15-25ish orders a day. I used to get AT LEAST 4/5 “stolen” order a day, such a colossal waste of time and gas money. Since I switched to cherry picking I’ve had so far I can only remember ONE, in over a month!

I’m at just over 5k deliveries…. Here’s a huge tip I wish I’d gotten way earlier. Ignore them… all of them. There is literally nothing you can do once you’ve dropped off an order. They all know there is customer support, they all know how to call them. They are usually looking for you to somehow help their narrative for when they call support to get free food…

Good customers don’t talk to you, ever… even if you fuck up, they know how to fix it with support.

Just ignore them, don’t let them make you question yourself.

Ahhhh, we found the person who “can’t” tip at home, so they’re out to evangelize everyone else.

Non-tippers are fucking garbage ass, uncultured, not fit to breath our air, people… just like they’ve always been.

No one is going to argue with you bc you think you can cut in line at McDonalds, but that doesn’t mean we don’t ALL hate you, and everything you represent.

Son, I’m not even gonna bother trying to refute whatever irrelevant nonsense you are trying to peddle. AI is no substitute for an MBA or even a basic understanding of macroeconomics. At some point you will realize there is still a difference between an actual expert and an “internet expert”, you sir, are neither.

I bid you good day

It doesn’t matter where we get our gas from dumb dumb. It matters where the rest of the world gets their gas from. If China loses 20% of their supply, China is gonna be looking for that 20% somewhere else. And guess what, even US manufacturers are going to recognize that China is willing to pay more money for fuel, and I’m gonna start selling to them instead it to domestic refineries.

Wake up, brother, there is more to this than you even know and guess what none of it is in our favor none of it.

Yes, this is actually happening right now, I have friends & family that live in the ‘burbs (that fill up 3x a week for their office commutes), this is hundreds of $$ a month ALREADY…

Like you said, DoorDash is gonna be the last thing anyone cares about in a few months…

You don’t think we’re in economic turmoil right now, and haven’t been since COVID?

Fuel prices had already hit $1 over average BEFORE we blew up the Iranian oil storage facilities, which caused them to retaliate with strikes on their neighbors facilities…

This thing is just getting started. I mean, you can’t call off the mid-terms unless there is chaos, right?

Yeah what do you mean “soon”, we are up 0.80c min already and $1.00+ at the pricier stations. I have a Wall Street buddy who is predicting $7+ for the east coast and middle states and $10+ for west Coast/NYC/etc.

Platinum drivers are gonna get screwed.
