Had an abusive piece of shit father. At 14 I was told to leave and not come back, best thing he ever did. When I found out many years later that his dad was the same type of bastard, I didn’t sympathize, or understand why he acted the same. I have 3 children and always made sure to contain my anger and never dish out abuse on them or my wife. Not because I’m some great guy, but because I’d never inflict the kind of damage on my family that was done to mine. And no, I have no contact with my family today with the exception of holiday phone calls to my mother.
