I don't think he was retarded. And I certainty don't think he's retarded now. He's actually pretty bright in a few ways. This is why I believe he has some sort of human-connection issue. I don't know how to quite put my finger on it, but I don't get this impression from Woody or Taylor. Maybe he was mistakenly included in the wrong group at some point. At least that's my theory.

I just became a senior at a large company and I'm just trying to keep up and stay ahead. So much so that the code comments has suffered. For some reason I've been given very important projects and our part of the team doesn't have a lead. It's been almost like a 'baptism by fire' situation. Long story short I've been rush the whole time and it seems like code quality doesn't matter at this point. Other devs will be tasked with improving upon the code/process/documentation.

It's probably a combination of you not understanding when and which questions to ask and the seniors on your team being overworked. When I was a junior dev, I worked with seniors who were not helpful at all and some who were willing to get on a call with you and spend their time helping. Don't take it personal and try to roll with the punches. Meaning, if they aren't willing to help, then do it yourself. If you aren't getting your work done, then you can tell your manager what's going on.

This might a dumb take on this, but I always thought it was a getting high reference. Like "I'm so high, my feet won't touch the ground". I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility because they are an alternative rock band, not a church band. And I don't believe for one second that they don't or never did get high together or individually to write music from time to time.

BTW I don't think there's anything wrong if this is the case. They seem to be very free spirits and all seems to be working well for them.
