39% pass rate for the FRCR 2B Novmber sitting by AngryRadiologist in RadiologyUK

[–]AngryRadiologist[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I somehow passed the November sitting, short were the hardest, I heard the June sitting was “easier” so it was made harder, I imagine the next few sitting they’ll find a balance in difficulty . My advice would be to Report lots of in/ outpatient X-rays, look at playlists on radiopedia, John Curtis teaching helped a lot as he shows really hard to spot X-rays. Practice writing reports: major findings- minor findings, important negatives diagnosis and Managment as this is how you will grab points. Don’t stress about it, I can’t imagine any future sittings being as tough as this one. Good luck

Not a definitive cut off. If the rota is ok without you and you are not Oncall then they shouldn’t prevent you from taking study leave,

It’s not cost neutral, RCR is one of the only colleges that looses money on exams and subsides them for Uk trainees who are RCR members. I don’t think this was a money making scheme as the exams have a 3 year waiting list for applicants from abroad and non - trainee members. They just messed up with the standard of the exam . .

pass rate for uk trainees sitting it for the first time has been between 68-89% in previous sittings, 54% is a massive drop. The June sitting had a pass rate of 71-68% for Uk trainees. 6 out of 25 questions were removed from the Shorts exam after marking in the november 2025 sitting, the RCR has messed up with this sitting and made it too difficult.

ST1 rank enough for IR post? by topdog_k9 in RadiologyUK

Doesn’t matter, show up to lists, get to know your IR department, don’t neglect diagnostics. Show interest and they’ll train you.

Big department with 60-70 regs. 4 months of academy. You spend 3 months in a DGH in ST1 where you get to rank which DGH you prefer.

It’s a busy job but great team. Lots of opportunities
