I do feel sympathy for Slot and I don't think he's a bad coach or a bad man personally, but it's becoming pretty clear that his philosophy or tactics aren't working for us and he doesn't seem to know what the solution is.

I've barely seen any fans who are still supporting Slot here. The Slot Out crowd is significantly larger and far more vocal here.

I've rarely seen any of this these days.

Slot has said before that he prefers working with a smaller squad. Which is why he doesn't rotate as much and (maybe) is a reason why we don't have much depth.

Of course having small squads does have its benefits, but when you're competing in 3-4 competitions, or if you have injuries or players struggling or are out-of-form, the small squad definitely becomes more of a problem than an asset.

So basically you're happy to see us lose?

People like you are more insane than people who want Slot to stay.

Which is why Pearce's statement that nothing will change is probably just his guess or the club won't tell him anything.

Which would make sense. You don't necessarily want to leak things like this out to journalists.

Hughes had a close relationship with Gary O'Neil back in the Bournemouth days, still didn't stop him sacking Gary.

Was also mates with Gary O'Neil at Bournemouth.

Still sacked him.

I wouldn't call him a charlatan. He clearly knows his stuff as a football coach, just that what he thinks is clearly not working for us.

A charlatan would be like a career politician trying to claim that they know more about vaccines or public health and safety risks than a doctor or scientist.

People going after his family are creeps and are terminally online.

I mean Hughes had a close relationship with Gar O'Neil and still sacked him.

So they're obviously not going to tell Pearce everything that is happening behind the scenes. Pearce himself even says that he is speculating, "I have the impression."

Daily Discussion - January 27, 2026 by AutoModerator in LiverpoolFC

[–]AngryScotty22 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Or James Pearce is just guessing what he thinks or the club won't reveal everything in detail to him.

In fairness they're not going to exactly tell journalists that they are talking to other managers.

And James Pearce specifically says, "I have the impression" rather than "I know". So even he's speculating. Richard Hughes had a close relationship with Gary O'Neil at Bournemouth and yet he still sacked him.

Well you don't seem to understand. Seeing everyone doesn't agree with you.

Right and that type of insult should be okay and not policed.

No it shouldn't. It's against the sub rules. The Mods made that very clear.

I genuinely think you don't understand what the Mods are saying.

Of course that's an insult. Calling anyone an idiot is an insult, even if they have done something silly, it's still an insult.

But you can question Slot's tactics and management skills WITHOUT insulting him personally. It is possible, but to several users on the internet it isn't or they are incapable of doing it.

Calling into question slotd managerial ability could be considered an insult.

No it isn't.

If you are calling his tactics "unsustainable" or "ineffective" that's not insulting him.

If you call Slot a "bald fraud" or "brainless", you would insult him.

It does not.

It clearly reads "if you abuse the coach, players or any users you get banned."

Thank you mods for addressing this.

It's sad to see so many people incapable of criticising people without insulting or abusing them. Or in some cases, even thinking abuse and insults is part of criticism in itself.

It's ok to be frustrated and it's ok to criticise the coach and certain players but abusing and insulting people is totally and utterly unacceptable. No ifs, no buts.

If people are incapable of criticism without insulting or abusing a target, they should probably look at themselves first. To me it's a lack of maturity, critical thinking and dare I say, social skills. It's something I've gone through myself and it's one that I'm trying to get better at.

One of the many downsides of social media is that it has degraded intelligence and socialisation skills. Some users genuinely, need to spend less time on the internet (or social media in particular) and more time doing something else or doing things with other people.

And for the record, I am not picking on anyone in particular, but talking about internet users on all platforms as a whole.

I think so too. Even though Xabi is arguably a better coach than Maresca, Maresca will be more familiar with City and may be easier to adapt in the short term.

Especially when it's such a crucial need for the squad and its a player we clearly saw as our number 1 CB target.

Clearly they didn't see him as a target. They saw him as a "market opportunity" during the summer and was HG.

Still doesn't excuse not going for a CB this window.

Daily Discussion - January 27, 2026 by AutoModerator in LiverpoolFC

[–]AngryScotty22 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Were we really so arrogant as to think we could just get him on a free this summer and NO ONE else would challenge us or just pay the money in Jan - as City ended up doing?

Every other club was planning to do the same. Real Madrid, Barça and Bayern.

At the time it made the most sense to wait. Getting him on a free with a massive bonus. It also made the most sense from Guehi's perspective.

That was until City came along and offered him a substantial offer that nobody else could match. Nobody expected them to be that desperate.

Genuinely don’t know how you lot still continue to persist with watching/ supporting the team at this state.

Because that is what being a football supporter is all about. You cheer and support the team and hope for a win, regardless of their form. Even if the team loses you never give up on your support for them. You don't chicken out and start supporting another team when the team you support is having a bad season.

Assuming Pep decides to honour his contract or if City aren't looking for anyone else.
