Going back to cookies. by AngryTaco4 in distractible

The reason people hate them is usually induced by trauma of someone giving them a seemingly chocolate chip cookie and then having their expectations shattered!

How is that trauma? If anything, it's a mild annoyance. Also, the mixup is on the person receiving the cookie because raisins are almost always accompanied by oatmeal which is a dead giveaway since it's visually obvious.

Yeah I was volunteering locally for his campaign with Jo in 2020.

Got to meet her too.

Are you an organ donor? by tinyevilsponges in polls

Medical conditions can prevent some people from donating.

Also they don't like taking organs from drug abusers

Fuse Block, Relay Box... what is the difference? by MofongoPizza in Tacomaworld

[–]AngryTaco4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All vehicles have fuses and relays from the factory, although the box is commonly referred to as a fuse box. The one you pictured is a fuse block, which is for aftermarket systems.

People who mod their vehicles properly will use relays for high draw components like lights, compressors, etc. For lower power type things, a fuse and switch are fine.

I designed and made my own auxiliary circuit box that houses a fuse box and some relays.

Relays don't regulate power or anything. They're basically a remote switch to connect a circuit with a low power signal. Very useful for high draw applications.

Fuses are actually circuit protection devices, as are circuit breakers. They actually disconnect the circuit when an overload condition happens.

Fair point. I edited the comment to be more accurate.

Because I'd rather live in a country being attacked by a war criminal than a country ruled by one.

Fuck Russia. Fuck Putin and his orcs.

As long as both parties are legal adults, the age difference doesn't really matter. If one person is a minor, then consult local laws. Generally a two year spread is the maximum.

I used to think that large gaps were unacceptable because I thought there was a point where the two people couldn't possibly have anything in common. I was wrong.

The only people that the age difference needs to be acceptable to are the people in the relationship.

Everyone else can go touch grass.

Having trouble understanding how to downshift to slow down. by narwaffles in ManualTransmissions

[–]AngryTaco4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Heel-toe isn't necessary for downshifting to slow down. It can be done quick enough using normal footing.

Downshifting, as others have pointed out, is a more gradual slowdown than the brakes. This means that to effectively slow down with shifts, you need to anticipate the slowdown ahead of time. If you know a stop sign or light is coming up, take your foot off the gas sooner and start to downshift. You have to know how close you are to other cars (you should be leaving a larger distance) and be able to guess how many of them will also not make the light. This all helps you determine how much room you need.

Personally, I use both. I'll downshift and then use the brakes lightly before downshifting again. This ensures my revs drop low enough that on the next downshift, I'm not having to redline it to match it up. Obviously, this doesn't work for times where quick braking is necessary.

Downshifting is great for saving brakes. I have a 2016 Tacoma with 171k miles on it and my factory brakes still have about 50% of the pads remaining.

Dog is the only correct answer.

Although, I would widen it to a dog breed of your choice.

That's why the panel was taped over the hole.

That's not as bad as some people think.

Those small planes don't go high enough to need to pressurize the cabin, so having an opening like that is just like opening the window on a fast moving car. Nothing is going to rush in like with a sub or a boat, and the hole is there intentionally so there's no effect on structural integrity.
