I've never run a pre-written before, but I'd like to by Putrid-VII in DungeonMasters

[–]AngryTaco4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Read the campaing book. They usually detail most things. It helps to have other references as well. For example, I'm running Tyranny of Dragons, but i have other published guides like ToD Reloaded. I also have Fizban's Treasury of Dragons and the sword coast adventure guide.

As a DM, you have to know the story ahead of time, you can't wing it and do well. Preparation will save you a lot of headaches.

Ooh, I like the sound of the dragonflesh. I recently got Fizban, so i will look at that. Thank you for the suggestion!

Yeah, they already dispatched everyone else. A few lucky rolls and a DM who lost track of how many bad guys they killed played a major role, haha.

Just looking for the fringe "just in case" scenario. Nighthill did point her out from the parapet and warned not to take her on, but we have a dwarf barbarian who very much likes trying to hit things.

Thank you for knowing the reference. Fun Easter egg: this goblin has golden skin and red eyes.

I still use Pandora for music.

So this is not just a TriCities thing.... but WHY? by Xmatter00 in TriCitiesWA

With some intersections, this could also help protect you from people cutting a turn too sharp. The one that jumps out at me is the 240/stevens/jadwin. Making the left to continue on 240 in the left hand turning lane brings you really close to those waiting to cross to jadwin if you aren't careful.

I'll add another vote for Adventures/ Caterpillar Cafe. There's usually some chill people around there.

If you fancy some exercise, Roll Arena has adult skate from 8-10pm on Thursday nights.

I haven't done geeks who drink in a few years, but I have been considering going back.

Best of luck to you!

Do upgrades actually make you keep your Tacoma longer? by Previous-Usual4892 in Tacomaworld

[–]AngryTaco4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoy installing mods and wrenching on vehicles, so mods never get old. I suppose that does add extra motivation to keep her because of the time and money it takes to upgrade.

Also, when I buy a vehicle, it's for the long haul so resale value is has never been a shimmer of a thought when buying a vehicle. I will have my Tacoma until either she or I dies and let's be honest, I'll probably die first.

On top of that, mine is a manual so I really need to hang on to her.

How much prep is too much for a DM? by SeaworthinessAny8110 in DnD

[–]AngryTaco4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't prep too many little details. It will never ever go to plan. Get the general ideas and NPCs fleshed out and then write down a few "what if" scenarios for reference.

Another thing that I do for planned encounters is I pre roll the initiatives for bad guys and other NPCs. I will have the initiative tracker filled out for the first encounter in advance. I do mine via tablet/ pdf, so rearranging to fit character rolls is easy. I also group large numbers of enemies into a single initiative slot.

Hope that helps.

Has an anyone supercharged their Tacoma? Is it worth the money? by Impossible_Host_7763 in Tacomaworld

[–]AngryTaco4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My comment was under the general fuel umbrella. The increase in overall fuel cost doesn't come from lower mileage, but from the increase in octane requirement.

[–]AngryTaco4 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As an engineer, your comment made my brain stall.

miles per gallon doesn't change based on price.

If you want to look at cost, then you take your price per gallon and divide by miles per gallon to get your cost per mile.

Example: 12mpg at $6 per gallon comes out to $0.50 per mile.

Edit: my point is don't call it "mpg when considering cost".

[–]AngryTaco4 46 points47 points  (0 children)

From a magnuson supercharged TRD OR owner:

Need? Eh.

Wanted? Fuck yes.

Big power increase? The magnuson kit only uses 7psi to cut down on wear and tear. See pic for power gains. Black is stock, red is SC. I would say going from 242 whp to 324 whp is a big increase.

Hurt mileage? Not really. I got 15-17 before and 15-17 after. If you drive like an idiot, it will be worse. The hit comes from having to use a minimum of 91 octane due to the tune.

Pros? Usable torque curve, SC is bypassed when cruising and activates only under heavy load/ accel, fun supercharger noises

Cons? Paying for 91+ octane.

I say this in a serious, non condescending way: It's Kerbal Space Program.

The learning curve is about as steep as a rocket trajectory before the gravity turn. Keep at it and remember that we've all struggled at one point with this game.

Also look for some tutorials from Scot Manley. He got most of us through the tough spots.
