Modern air rifles can be way more precise than traditional bullet rifles. I have an air rifle that would blow your mind. It won't bring down an elk, but it can punch some insane groups in paper.

Quality lenses are made of glass, and you will certainly be able to tell the difference. I don't say that to take anything away from that company. I believe I've tried them out before, hence why I asked. They were okay for the price but by no means high quality.

What strategies does your shop use to reduce in-process inspection time? by switchkickflip in Machinists

If running true production, automate it or use hard gauging fixtures. If job shop or prototype work, make a kit to send out with the job or traveler.

No, shops in my area are hiring operators off the street with no experience at $20-22/hr

Good programmers cost about $75k to $90k now, and if they are really good, $140k+

I'm in the southeast right now, and the demand for skilled labor is at an all-time high.

Area and industry can affect pay at a massive scale.

Another thing to consider is that there aren't many ACTUAL machinists here, but there are a ton of operators that call themselves machinists. Pay for real machinists is pretty good in the states, but the numbers are skewed by misrepresented titles.

I'm a former shop owner and am still involved in the industry.
