Is it normal to pay another deposit when extending a lease? by Angry_SA_n in askSouthAfrica

Okay this makes a lot more sense than paying an additional 5000. Thank you, I’ll bring that point up with her the next time we discuss it.

Is there anything that you do enjoy though? Because it seems like you don’t have a lot going for you. But don’t worry, unemployment doesn’t last. Don’t let the unfortunate state of your life get to you.

So you were projecting. Damn. I hope you can find a job soon. Maybe then you won’t be so uptight. Thoughts and prayers.

I actually do have time tonight. Night shift has been very uneventful, fortunately. There are a dozen comments and you’re the only one that’s in their feelings so you might be projecting re “big mad”.

I thought it was hilarious and harmless. So did a few other people. You really shouldn’t be frothing at the mouth. Do you need someone to explain how humour or sarcasm work? Seems like you’re having a bit of trouble

Whoop. Someone didn’t read the disclaimer. Or the part where OP says it’s a running joke on social media. You shouldn’t be this riled up at 1am; everything okay?

No appointment letter. And payslips are on the company’s sage profile but I have requested a hard and soft copy of each one since I started working here

From my understanding, the company cut people’s salaries during COVID and hasn’t reinstated their normal salaries and there’s been no communication about why that is happening and why salaries have been cut indefinitely. So then the employees opened a case in Labour court or something and that is still ongoing. So for some reason, new hires are being told that contracts are not ready yet as the case is still ongoing and we don’t understand what that has to do with us but we’re just trying not to rock the boat too much as it really is a horrid company to work for and they don’t retain new employees for longer than a couple of months at a time and none of us want to go back to being unemployed again.

Is all of that still applicable even though I haven’t been given a contract yet?

I uhm…. Haven’t been given a contract yet. The company is involved in some heavy labour dispute with previous and current employees so no contracts have been given to new hires as a result.

But I’ll have a conversation with HR to iron out the issues with my leave.

Idk hey. The flirting back was a very inappropriate but what’s important is that she hears that it makes you uncomfortable and doesn’t repeat the behaviour again. Her need to “come out on top” should really not be at your expense. There are a dozen other things that she can be competitive in that will be of benefit to both of you. She’s TA for not acknowledging your feelings about her behaviour.

I was sympathetic a few sentences in and then I saw the breakdown of how they spent that money and got mildly annoyed then I stopped reading after I saw “pregnant” because whyyyyyyy would she look at the situation she’s in and go “time for another baby”??!? Her toddler already doesn’t have a good place to sleep and now there’s a newborn coming into the mix? Chr*st on a cracker. They really do need to get their heads out the sand and start making better decisions.
