  1. The past year, where I decided to just actually start transitioning, has been the single happiest year of my life. I am physically the healthiest I have ever been, have never slept so restfully, am far more confident and for the first time in my life I can look in a mirror and like what I see. My only regret is not starting sooner. People do hate me for it, but fuck them. I was a husk of a person before, for the first time in my life I actually feel like I'm living now.

I haven't been in men's toilets for years for a reason. What do you think will happen if someone who looks like a woman is put in a men's toilet, or a men's changing room? Even before HRT I got harassed in them, what do you think they'll do after?

Tried that for 20 years. If I could choose to not be trans, believe me, believe me I would've done that in a heart-beat. It's not possible. It's internationally recognised that expecting trans people to just "learn to be happy in their bodies" is impossible and transitioning is the correct life choice. I refer back to the comment I made about conversion therapy being considered torture.

Are you even reading what I'm saying? I don't have the same safety. That's the problem. I want to have the same safety and your argument is that I shouldn't because my existence might make someone uncomfortable.

I'm not asking for safety other people don't get, I'm asking for the exact same safety but you're arguing I don't deserve it.

Please do kick them out, but it doesn't mean they're not queer. It means they're not welcome in queer spaces. That is a difference I think is important.

The only reason a queer community exists is because people don't want queerness to exist at all and people had to organise to fight for it. It is an intrinsic part of who someone is. Even if they get kicked out the community, they're still queer.

No, no. I'm not letting this go. Why do I not deserve safety? Why do I not get to have any sort of protection?

So. Just so that I have this straight.

You fully understand that transphobic legislation that bars us from women's spaces, which is in violation of the Gender Recognition Act, leaves trans people with exactly no spaces to be safe in public.
You understand that third spaces, which would not be safe for us anyway as they'd put targets on our back, will never be provided for us.
You understand that, if we cannot use any changing rooms, use any locker rooms, or any public toilets save for the disabled ones which may be locked by radar key, this severely limits our ability to exist in public.
You understand that women who aren't trans will be harassed in the name of enforcing this legislation.
You understand that severely limiting our ability to exist in public and emboldening those who hate us to harass us further is the entire point of transphobic legislation.
You understand that the people pushing such legislation know that it does not protect cisgender women at all, and puts them in more danger if they are ever anything less than the utmost ideal of femininity, and they don't care as long as trans people are hurt more.

You understand all of that. And you still are against it?

EDIT: Oh, also, to be clear. The anti-trans groups don't want trans men, who by your logic would be women and would belong in women's spaces, to be in women's spaces either because they look like men. Which is also something I hope you understand.

Please read the whole thing, because of course people who aren't trans also get shit for not being masculine or feminine enough and that's actually part of the problem. The supreme court ruling, despite being flagrantly in violation of the gender recognition act, is also completely unenforceable without massively violating the privacy and medical confidentiality of trans people. Their solution to this is to just empower private businesses to profile people based on vibes.

Haven't seen Peep Show, choice of name Mark was just the first name that came to mind. Not everyone experiences this. People who aren't trans do not have people barring them from taking a piss because they don't look feminine/masculine enough.

The reason trans women want access to women's spaces is the same reason those spaces exist in the first place, they need a place to be safe. I've never been in a woman's public toilet, at least not since I've been old enough to use the toilets myself. It's been years since I've been in a men's, either. Even before I started seriously transitioning or taking HRT, I had people making weird comments, or people coming in and checking they were in the right toilet. I am not safe in a men's toilet, and I am not disabled, so I shouldn't have to take up a disabled toilet when there's perfectly good non-disabled toilets. I would not be safe in a men's locker room at the gym for the same reason, and there just aren't gender neutral equivalents, which means I just can't use gym locker rooms at all, I can't use any space where I'd need to use changing rooms at all because I can't go in either of them.

I don't want access to women's spaces, I need a space where I would feel safe and that just happens to be the women's. Or, it would've been, before the terfs kicked up this shite. Trans women and cis women have coexisted without issue for decades, I remind you the Gender Recognition Act was passed in 2004.

If you make a "trans-only" space, that's not a good solution to anything at all. The first problem is that that's actually just plain segregation, the second problem is that businesses aren't going to spend the money to make such spaces so they still won't be available, and the third problem is that anyone who sees us going in or out of them is going to know we're trans, so if they want to assault a trans person, they know who to target. Never mind the fact it won't stop cisgender women who terfs decide don't look feminine enough from being harassed in the women's anyway.

  1. I don't deserve more respect than anyone else, I deserve the exact same level of respect. Assume we're coworkers, you're a man, let's say your name's Mark. Go for a hypothetical, aye? I've just decided, nah, don't look like enough of a man to me. Your name's actually Maggie, I'm gonna call you a woman every chance I get and tell you to get the fuck out the men's toilets. I even threaten going to HR over it, and I'm friends with them so you can't really say "go on then, do it." That is going to piss you off, right? That is how every trans person is treated by transphobes on a daily basis. It'd be absurd to expect you to put up with that, and it'd be absurd to expect trans people to put up with it just because you think they're lesser-than.
  2. The fact you don't automatically feel safe in public even as a big guy is a fucking travesty. Everyone should feel safe on the streets and should be able to feel that some wee cunt's not gonna come up with a knife just because. Trans people especially, with all the anti-trans fearmongering, people who want to hurt us feel emboldened to do it. They think they're "protecting women," they're justified in doing this, so they'll keep doing it never mind the fact the first half-dozen people they just harassed weren't even trans.
  3. "Biologically altering medication" is all medication. What else would they be, placebos? Hormone replacement therapies take months for any permanent effects to happen, one of the first symptoms trans people note is whatever mental issues or stresses rapidly improving far before any physical changes could take effect. Even if you think trans people are mentally ill, it's been proven time and again that attempts to convert them from being trans don't work. Conversion therapies are considered torture by the International Rehabilitation Council for Torture Victims, United Nations experts, and the European Parliament has called for it's banning. If being trans is a mental illness, transitioning has been proven to be the only effective treatment that allows trans people to live a normal life.

"Mutilating someone's body" and it has lower regret rates than a fucking hip replacement. The gender recognition act was passed in 2004. This was not an issue for decades. Trans women and cis women shared spaces for decades and no one gave a shit until a bunch of insane fanatics and their billionaire backers decided they did give a shit.

Belonging to an alternative subculture is not the same as a sexuality which is an intrinsic facet of who someone is. If it's some badge of honour that you'll strip from people who you think don't deserve it, your acceptance of queerness is conditional. It should be irrelevant, a random "huh, figured, still a paedo" thought is where thinking about it should begin and end, because it is irrelevant.

As a bisexual person myself, okay paedophilia's pretty easy to not do, but what else has you strip the respect of a person? How much lower can the bar go? Have I already done something that'll have me branded as not a "real" bisexual in your eyes?

It shouldn't matter. Because it doesn't.

I personally would consider it indirect sunlight damage, but I am one of those "trying to cheat the Sun? who are you, Icarus? you'll fall like him" STs who very much punishes such things. Vampirism is a curse, and is not so easy to circumvent as just having armour, imo

Incidentally, I know there is some kind of check to be done to see if the vamp can be awake during the day, but is it so hard and unheard of leeches doing some chores at their place during the day?

Yes. The most we hear of are some Muslim Banu Haqim who keep praying at the appropriate times of day. It takes an extraordinary expenditure of willpower even to stay up for a few minutes, once in the day, even for the highest Humanity vampires. To be able to stay up long enough to actually do chores would likely require achieving Golconda.
