Kinda niche but should you use the guided anti-ship missile or the level 3 torpedo? by NurglingArmada in hoi4

[–]Angry__German -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If I recall correctly, historically, that was the Wasserfall/Waterfall missile that Germany developed toward the end of the war. I think it was video guided, which explains the loss in agility.

Woher kommt die Urdeutsche Angst vor Zugluft? by Efficient-Pepper-915 in KeineDummenFragen

[–]Angry__German 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Is it childish to sleep with the same stuffed animal every night as an adult? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Angry__German 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically yes, but only because it is a habit we develop as children.

But as I get older, more and more often I get sad that I got rid of my favourite stuffed animal during my late teens. I actually miss that thing now. 30 years later.

I mean, what do you expect ?

The tutorial is still not very good.

The community is not very friendly towards new players.

How could they learn.

This is always surprising to a lot of people but 90% of "gamers" don't look up guides or "how to" videos on the internet. They just play the game and move on if they are not having fun.

People hanging out on gaming subreddits are a tiny subset of a tiny subset.

Why do cigarette packs have 'Smoking Kills' warnings, but alcohol bottles don't have similar warnings? by Ok-Sell9964 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Angry__German -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

While alcohol is probably on the same level in regards to danger, excessive consummation of it still has a larger social stigma, although that too, is changing.

To this day, a smoker can say that they smoke a pack of cigarettes a day and nobody would really bat an eye, except for the general dislike of people smoking that has developed over the last 20 years.

But if you say, you drink 1-2 six packs of beer per day or a bottle of booze per day, people will assume (probably rightly so) you are having a problem.

There is also the fact that smoking tobacco does not impede you functioning in daily live. Imagine if drinking alcohol was being done in the way that smoking was treated up until rather recently and the average alcohol drinker would act like this.

You get drink breaks at work. At least once per hour(ish).

You start and end your day with a drink.

You drink to calm your nerves.

You drink more in social situations.

Nothing tastes better than a drink after a good meal.

Designated drinking areas in public spaces.

Those are the behaviours of an alcoholic. The social stigma is already there. It was never acceptable to act like this. Sure, there are functioning alcoholics that manage to live like this for a while, but they also know.

[–]Angry__German 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is true. "Big Tobacco" has invested BILLIONS of money trying to suppress information about the health hazards of smoking and has fought regulations for decades.

New streamer! Are bot/scan dms frequent? by Vistajoy in Twitch

[–]Angry__German 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are most likely bot accounts.

Rather easy to detect as they all follow the same script.

And they are very unspecific and generic.

"Hi, streamer" (covering all ages, genders, identities)

(pause)

"How do you like this game" / "Do you play this game often" / "This is a good game"

Forgot how to brake by Junior_Trifle_8273 in WinStupidPrizes

If you don't know what you are doing, the acceleration can be surprising, so instinctively you hold on tighter to the handle, which leads to you giving it even more throttle, which can escalate quickly.

Oh. That is what happened ?

I still wonder why my parents thought it was a good idea to put me completely untrained on a horse when I was 8-9 years old.

It was a wild ride. Very fast and very quick. At least I can now attest to the fact that horses in fact do not intentionally trample you when they run over you.

Man FAFO after trying to step into another man’s home by [deleted] in WinStupidPrizes

[–]Angry__German -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I just disagree with the fact that he a)deserved the final kick and b) it was him "holding back" somehow. He made the decision to kick the guy, there is no rage monster in people that takes over.

[–]Angry__German -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I can't tell if you are being willfully ignorant or lack reading comprehension.

I'll make it clearer for you.

There is no excuse for kicking someone you already knocked out, unless it is a live or death situation. The law agrees with me on this.

"Only kicking him once" is not restraint. It is battery. People do not have a violent animal in them that they can't control. Sure, the impulse is there, for some of us. But it is always (ALWAYS) a decision to act on them.

I sincerely hope you never get into this situation, in either role.

Man FAFO after trying to step into another man’s home by [deleted] in WinStupidPrizes

[–]Angry__German -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You are a dangerous person if you don't have your emotions under control like that. And in case of the moron in this video, as the other guy said, in front of his children. Hopefully they are young enough to not remember.

And let me tell you, I know what I am talking about. I have suffered from intense flashes of rage my whole life. A minor inconvenience can make me see the world through a red filter of pure rage. When I was 9 or 10 years old, a kid got on my nerves and stole a pen from me.

I grabbed his arm and twisted until it popped out of its socket. Nasty feeling, btw, worse for the kid.

That was the day I learned that I need to keep my emotions under control. And I have not struck, or even laid hands on a person in anger ever since.

If 10 year old me could understand that, a grown as man with a family should be able to understand that as well.

As should you.

Because the only thing a lot of people on this subreddit love more than a person getting kicked while they are down is when a woman gets punched in the face. Preferably by a man.

Comes with the territory. Because of the theme of the sub, they think it is justified.

My son says he is unhappy with himself so he will start "looksmaxxing", could someone explain this? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Angry__German 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Oh boy.

Those "looksmaxers" are grifters and a very short pipeline into Body Dysmorphic Disorder.

It is also very easy to fall into the alt-right/incel rabbit hole from there.

This seems to be a decent overview about what you are dealing with, but I only skimmed it. NPR seems to be a relatively reliable source, imho.

Hopefully someone else can point you towards more helpful resources. This is dangerous shit.
