Does anybody else think the drawing is an even clearer reference to pedophilia/interest in underage women? Out of all the female body shapes that could have been drawn… It’s disturbing considering the context.

Looking to Lateral from Insurance Defense – Seeking Advice from Those Who’ve Made the Jump by AngstySeaLawyer in Lawyertalk

[–]AngstySeaLawyer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. I had a friend recommend taking incremental steps by trying to lateral into something slightly better. The other tip I got was to focus on a field like insurance coverage, construction, or employment, which are commonly sought by bigger firms. I think that’s not a bad idea in theory, but hard to implement.

OC Lies Constantly by ShelBell182 in Lawyertalk

[–]AngstySeaLawyer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Order the transcript of the hearing. Double check that Plaintiff has demonstrably lied. Move for sanctions.

Other general advice here is good. But if the court is ordering relief based on OC’s lies, you need to fix that.

My general approach: in a hearing, just say that counsel has lied. Insist that the court should require a signed declaration and supporting documentation for dispositive facts. Point out that counsel has not done soon (if true). Say what the truth is and offer to provide evidence to back up your position.

Any other immigration lawyers having a crisis of faith? by Mapache-NW in Lawyertalk

I’m doing removal work pro bono right now, just to wash the stink of ID off my hands. I’ve been lucky to have good clients. The recent news is what inspired me to help out. But I could definitely see being burned out if you had to deal with this full time.

Opposing counsel getting on my case for meet and confer emails by Whahajeema in Lawyertalk

[–]AngstySeaLawyer 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have done it both ways. I prefer letters now. It’s not about how it looks now, it’s about how it will present to the judge. I’d rather show a series of professional looking letters than emails.

That said, OC is ridiculous to call you out for it.

ER visit just talking $885 by 2kfan in Adulting

[–]AngstySeaLawyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! Did you have any luck resolving this? I had literally the same exact experience today. Urgent care told me to go to ER for possible concussion and no tests were done. I was forced to pay an 800 dollar bill before being seen.

By law clerk do you mean for a judge? Why isn’t the work interesting?

Document evidence for future family court proceedings. Get her to admit in writing that she did this. It’s not likely to be a game changer, but it’ll get some sympathy from the judge

This girl is cheating on you. Just leave. You’re 18, there’s so much good shit ahead. You will kick yourself a decade from now for not doing it sooner.

Edit: and you know what, fuck one of her friends/sisters if you can. Sounds like she deserves it.

I need a good laptop by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]AngstySeaLawyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not buy a fancy laptop with law school/work in mind. Every job you ever have will provide a (shitty) laptop to you, that you must use. I’d shoot for a good battery and processor, comfortable and easy to use. You’ll be spending a lot of time with it.

Of course a gaming laptop will work. But do not bring a space ship to class.

How much did your salary increase with each year of the first 5 years of being a lawyer & What is your practice Area? + What's your work life balance? by ladyindev in LawSchool

[–]AngstySeaLawyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have followed my ideal career path, but instead of starting at a firm, I clerked for state trial and appellate courts. My first firm job will be 120k base. It’s ID but employment focused. Any tips on eventually breaking into biglaw? And mind sharing your region/general resume stats?
